Defender security
Discussion
What is the best visual deterrent / security device recommendation you could fit to a defender (apart from a couple of Dobermans in the back)?
Just looking at preventing anything happening in the future, I know if someone really wants the car, they will take it, but would like to give them some sort of hassle factor first!
Thanks

An inexpensive idea could be glass etching with your reg on. If it is a 'private' plate it may be unsuitable if looking to sell in the future? I saw this idea on a Landy forum and it is all the small things which add up to deter the thief stealing your motor. Also, don't reverse the car in if you have a drive, go in forwards and turn the wheels to the left or right fully....even when parking on the street.
Well….
the usual suspects are:
Disklok
Battery isolator
Clutch Claw or similar
If you use these and it's an old 'un, no point ion locking the doors IMO, they can be picked with the tab off a coke can, or it saves you clearing up broken glass.
Also….
Turn the wheels full lock when parked (more difficult to tow)
Chain to a ground anchor
A bit random but - leave the transfer box/overdrive (if you have it) in neutral - could confuse the idle twoccer!

Pedal boxes are also quite popular by all accounts:

I am fitting deadlocks to the doors.
This is what I've done. Got some Yale combination lock dead-bolts. Designed for normal domestic doors and gates but, due to the slab sides and utilitarian looks of a Defender they look just right fitted at the crease in the doors just below the windows. There's a photo of them in a similar thread somewhere. Just can't find it right now.
X defend and X pedal
Simon who runs X engineering is nothing short of a genius, every product is well thought out
Most local Independant Land Rover Specialists can supply them
Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser are proving popular
If you want it back, smart water is popular if you do bulk head, panels, engine, everything really
Quite simply they're easy to steal and have limited marks.
