Having only been in the city centre a small handful of times it's going to be down to Googles car park recommendations. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm looking for somewhere around the Piccadilly Gardens area, as cheap as possible (free would be great!) but would prefer one that's not too shabby or has a history of smash and grabs.

Absolutely dreading the extra 3 mile journey (currently around Old Trafford) and the car park fees. Apologies if this has been posted in the wrong area.

Thanks smile

You'll be lucky to find a free one in the city centre.
There is an el cheapo one just off the backside (pun intended) of Canal Street under the back of the old Manchester Met building.
Satnav reference will be Minshull Street; the entrance is down a ramp just opposite the Euro car parks site (I think that's what it's called anyway)
Either that, or a 10 min walk somewhere like Hulme Street.

Chapeltown Street has a carpark that's manned during the weekdays but there's no signs or anyone around in the evening or weekends when it's free. Parked here many times for hours at a time and never had a problem. http://goo.gl/maps/fhm8J

Picadilly Gardens is just a short walk away.

Thanks chaps. Will consider them both. A bloke on work has also sent me the below link for some additional food for thought. Transportation pods (from The Fly) should have been built by now you would have thought smile

The two nearest to Piccadilly Gardens are Chorlton Street and New York Street. But they ain't cheap. Chorlton Street is £18 for a day, and I think New York Street is even more. Does your company have any arrangements with NCP ?

Hi there,

I park for the day in Manchester two or three times a week.
I tend to use a car park just next door to the Lowry hotel, it's £5 all day and just a short walk over the river to Deansgate. You can walk from here up to Piccadilly Gardens or use the free buses that run around the city centre to get around.

Alternatively you can park in one of the many car parks around Northern Quarter (most of them operated by SIP) which from memory tend to charge around £1 per hour for anything up to 5 hours (although longer terms are charged at less than this).

Regards

Tim

Thanks, used this one for a couple of days now and seems fine, especially for £2.50. 15 minute walk from the car park to my desk.
