Dangerous driving?
Discussion
Hey guys,
This morning I was going over a short toll bridge on the motorbike, and rode round the barriers and down the bridge on the pedestrian pathway. Why I did this I can't say. I've had a lot of serious family issues recently but that's all I can think of.
I didn't ride down the pathway quickly, and didn't cause any danger. However, at the end I was stopped by the toll attendant who said that they had it all on CCTV And might well prosecute. Is this likely or is this bluffing? I paid the toll on the exit. They also claimed that they'd called the police but let me ride off so I know that was bs.
As above, no excuse and I know that I'm in the wrong. I don't think that this is massively serious though - will they bother with prosecution?
Cheers guys. Bit worried about this.
Ps - clean licence, no past history etc etc

Sorry, you've ridden down a pavement (which is bad enough in itself) and you don't even remember doing it or have any rational reason as to why you might behave that way... and you "don't think it's massively serious"?!?!?This morning I was going over a short toll bridge on the motorbike, and rode round the barriers and down the bridge on the pedestrian pathway. Why I did this I can't say. I've had a lot of serious family issues recently but that's all I can think of.

I'd be stting myself. I'd be at hospital asking for an MRI of my head to see if I have a tumour the size of Luxembourg developing in my brain. I'd be worried I had Alzheimers. I certainly wouldn't be riding my bloody motorbike around on the pavement in a moment of madness which I can neither recall nor justify, then simply chalking it up to experience.
I'd venture to suggest that your laissez faire attitude is another symptom of whatever neurological condition is causing you to do what you did this morning.
Simon.
The toll bod could make a complaint, CCTV may be used to support the complaint. The toll bod cannot prosecute you. It would be up to the police to determine if they could be bothered to do anything about it even with the CCTV.
As previously posted, it sounds as if you should seriouly get things sorted in your head before you get back on the bike again.

We all make mistakes in life and I have made a lot more than most. However I really do think the op should seriously assess his competence to ride or drive given the events he recounted. This is well beyond stupidity and could be regarded in a very serious light as others have confirmed. I would not ride or drive until this behaviour has been considered and assessed by competent medical practitioners. This is way beyond ordinary silliness and momentary lack of attention. Best of luck to the op.
Thanks for the replies. The original post is badly worded. It was an area I hadn't been before, and I thought that there was a separate late for cyclists and motorbikes to cars, which I went down. Obviously still inexcusable, but slightly less mad than would perhaps be deduced from the original post. I just had other things on my mind. Wholly careless rather than dangerous.
Not denying my error, but my mental health is fine. Appreciate the concern though.
Thanks

Useful, thanks. If the toll booth stand to make nothing from a complaint I would hope that nothing comes out of it.As previously posted, it sounds as if you should seriouly get things sorted in your head before you get back on the bike again.

Get it checked out buddy, could be a mini-stroke?I saw two bikers take to the pavement to get round an enormous vehicle (turned out to be a power station dismantling rig) when I was a kid. Unfortunately for the bikers there was a bib standing out of view. They got a good bking, but were let off ultimately.
Hopefully you'll get the same op, but you should probably have a bit of a word with yourself as well pal.

Not sure if serious or trolling.. I seriously hope the latter because if not..
Suffice to say there's some complete and utter fruitcakes on this site.

OP's post at 21.09 explained this was confusion around cycle lanes, rather than a mental blackout or similar. Not sure if serious or trolling.. I seriously hope the latter because if not..

If you live your life worrying that much about minor things, I'd be more worried about yourself.
