Having spent hours on the phone and email with AF and it's partners and at the end being told that they do not believe what I say about an accident caused by freak weather I will not be renewing with them and will not be considering them in the future. Their aggressive attitude on the telephone is appalling and I for one am not used to be spoken to in this way.
There are many other companies out there who will provide classic car cover and at cheaper price that AF and far better customer service and attitude!
Goodbye AF!

That's sad to hear. AF usually come as one of the most recommended TVR insurers and certainly one of the cheapest. I guess the real measure of an insurance company though is when you need to make a claim.

I currently have insurance with:
Adrian Flux
Classicline
A Plan
Direct Line

I have only had to make a claim in the past with A Plan and they were fantastic. No hassle at all and always happy to help.

I have to say, this isn't the first time I've heard people having issues with AF, and it's for this reason that I've never even called them for a quote. No matter how tempting the quotes, reputations are very powerful.

I use Mannings currently. Very courteous on the phone, European and track day cover as standard, and agreed valuation on my limited mileage specialist policy.

Olly

Makes you wonder why you insured with them in the first place, given the many better options!

Are they not just a broker?
Surely it is a decision by the actual insurance company that affects the claim, though I appreciate that a good broker may be able to apply limited influence?

AF are always good for a laugh come renewal time, if its not their rediculusly high premium which is so far out of step with other providers in the market, its their thick call centre monkeys who ask the most stupid of questions (like what make is a TVR?) which fails to inspire confidence they are selling you a product that meets your needs. Personally I would go through MSM (KGM is their underwriter) they have been fantastic for the last 3 years both on renewal and for claims.

That said AF must do something right as they seem to still be in business

In the past I had always insured through my local broker who insures my wife's car, last year I thought I would use one of the more "specialist" companies who advertise in the club mag, suppose the phrase "live and learn" comes to mind but never AF again !!

I am with Flux and currently have a claim running. They just passed the case over to the policy provider Equity. Its taking weeks just to get the go ahead on the work needed.

AF just aren't competitive. Mannings for me, no haste and the chaps love the TVRs and are keen to know what you are doing each year you renew and you renew because they are the cheapest, the service is great etc, as far as I've seen anyway smile Two mates have had massive claims with them and it was zero hassle, my vote all the way!

Why didn't I read this earlier.
Just insured the new Tiv today with AF
(who have given good prices for my Mini and 350i)
The Chimaera was quite a bit more though

Surely you still have 13 days left to cancel the policy?

I won't be renewing with AF either, IF I can help it.

Equity didn't pay out on a legitimate claim for me. I told them that there was no way I would stay with them the following year. AF then went and auto-renewed with Equity, despite my previous instructions, while I was abroad and there was nothing I could do about it. So they are dead to me now.

Another vote for MANNINGS here, had been with them for some time and they were superb, especially when it came to a claim. Unfortunately they don't cover FI so I've had to move reluctantly, it was really weird telling them as it felt I was 'fessing up' to being unfaithful. Then had a pleasant surprise with Classic Line as the guy there [oliver] was very knowledgable.

it's not all plain sailing with Mannings - we got hit in Belgium and when we rang the accident centre, the reply was "what do you want us to do about it!"
We eventually got home after a hellish 3 days and some help from one of the Mannings guys to arrange alternative transport.
So they all seem to be at the mercy of the 10 yr old in the call centre at some point...we stayed with them for the next year but them moved to AF and no problems so far

My issues with AF are that the two times I've insured with them they have filled in the details wrongly on the application form, and when it is sent for to check I call them up and tell them it is wrong it has always cost me more money, in one instance is was so far wrong it added approx. £100 to the cover, cancelled and went else where.

Majority of time been with Mannings, if you fail to arrange cover they phone you up as a reminder which is great for me being Mr absent minded
