RE: Evora S Sports Racer: Intro

How much Evora chat takes place over on the Porsche forum? How many 911/Turbo/GT3/air/water et al threads get derailed by people talking about the evolution of the Esprit and the various models' respective dynamic merits? I just find it odd that Porsche people are quite so vociferous when another vehicle is mentioned, let alone should it dare to have a thread started about it.
I think there's a lot of Porsche owners like me who are very interested in the Evora. It's the only close competitor (with a similar layout) to the Cayman and basic 911. Personally I love the Evora, and when it's time to change my Cayman I'll be looking at it very closelyImpasse said:
Porsche. Porsche. Porsche. Seems curious there's so much chat about Porsche in a thread about a Lotus. Inferiority complex? Fear of being bettered by the underdog from Hethel? How odd Porsche fanatics are.
It has been like this for years here. It's not enough for Porschephiles to like them, everybody else has to as well.
So tedious.
I would gladly pay more for an Evora than any 911. Yes even the one that's become compulsory to like.

So stir it up! Start posting Lotus stuff on the Porsche threads and see what happens
might be interesting...
To be honest I don't think much would happen.might be interesting...
Loads of current Porsche owners were once Lotus owners (me included) and have affection for both marques.
It's only the know all few who try and put Tiddles in with the pigeons.

Re the update, how dull does that Cayman look in grey?!
Not a big White car lover, but the Evora in the article looks very 'junior supercar' compared to the bland Porsches IMO

I love the 981C but grey isn't the colour for it.
I have yet again been contemplating going back to Lotus -but I can't get to like the front of the Evora for some reason.
If only Lotus could put the Evora interior into the Exige body - I'd be in there like a shot.
I know they are meant to be great driver's' cars but I am with you on the looks of the Cayman. The Boxster however, IMO, gets better looking with each revision.
You can't describe the Evora as bland but I do think straight on can be a bit challenging occasionally. The nose looks a little too big.
(Posted at the same time as Zyp, see we agree on the Evora front end).

Agree. The V6 Exige doesnt look right to me from some angles either, the rear being the worst for me. Love it head on though.I love the 981C but grey isn't the colour for it.

Interior is a big let down for me. The Evora recaros would make a big difference
IMO the Boxster looks fine until you put the roof on!
I don't think anything will be 100% right for me....
The Evora, whilst generally being a good looking car (taking into account my dislike of the front), in some colours looks 'pinched' in the middle.
Especially highlighted in the white one in the article - I had a look around a red sports racer a few months back and it looked much better.

Here's a nice grey one for the Porsche fans. Never seen that colour before, certainly individual.
Doesn't help the front view for me.

I think it's the shape of the front lights that make the Evora look nose heavy.

The Probax in the Exige suit it just fine - it's the rest of the interior that lets down a £60k car.Interior is a big let down for me. The Evora recaros would make a big difference
An interior that's been around what - 7 years and not changed?

Is the 981 Cayman available in interesting colours? I don't think I've actually seen one that isn't a variant on grey. I think it'd look quite nice in a bright yellow or orange.
Not keen on the Evora in silver or grey either; it just looks bland. Orange with a black roof is lovely.
As bad as white sometimes is perceived to be, a 981C in Carrara white with satin platinum wheels is a great looking car.Not keen on the Evora in silver or grey either; it just looks bland. Orange with a black roof is lovely.
Red, black even, but not really grey.
