Hello People,

Just a uick question if I may. I have a 2 year old GranCabrio with 6k on the clock. When I have the top down (Obvioulsy I can hear the world go by), but when I reverse or even pull away the gear box seems to tick a couple of times, especially when reversing.

Its noticable to me because, I can hear a flys wing at 50 paces (if its related to my car), ......

Just wondering if any other GT's or GranC's have this noise when they reverse.......

Might be worth an ask on SportsMaserati.com if you don't get much of a response here?

Thanks for the info guys, I contacted the Franchise Dealer, the Cabrio is still under Maser warranty, they said it was an 8 hour job and its just a case of me organising when they can have the car smile ...... all that without them even hearing the clicking and only going on my email description ...... type

They did say its not detrimental to the car and I can drive it no problem, but get the car to them when it suits me .....

OK, they have not sorted the halfshafts yet, but my impression of the Dealer so far is damned good. I don't want to break any Piston Head rules by naming and shaming dealer etc, but what about naming and praising?

Can we do that?

Took the car into have the half shafts sorted under warranty. Dealership just emailed me and confirmed that they have permission to replace the half shafts smile

Apparently they know what the problem is, but Maserati insist that they take a sound clip and send it off to head office. They then confirm what the problem is and tell them the parts to order.

I'm told I have to have new half shafts and some, "huge washers", either side (hey - that was the way it was described to me) biglaugh

I was also told that new GT's/Grancabrios have different half shafts, that are now being fitted to my car..... smile

Any idea when they rectified this on the production line?

Common problem. They use the same patterned splined shaft as the Ferrari 360 and we've seen the same problem since 2001. Good to hear its getting fixed under warranty for a change....

Recently got the car back ..... asked the guys for some photos.....

These being the offending articles .....

I will name the dealership, its Meridien Modena, in Southampton.

I must admit, I have a very negative view of garages and in particular Franchise Dealerships, as I am always made to feel that their poo doesn't smell. However the Service manager at Meridien seems to be a really nice guy, working very hard to fit me in and pick up the car when he can etc.

I'm a firm believer in, if it looks like a duck, and it quacks like a duck, maybe its a duck.....

So if the Service Manager is a nice guy every single time I talk to him, and he's helpful every single time I discuss stuff with him ...... maybe he's a nice guy smile

Incidentally, whilst there, they also changed the front of the radio and an internal light as when they checked it, they were not 100% smile

So far Meriden pressing all the right buttons....... smile
