Well, that's a dent is our US positivity over the last 8 months. Got home from work last night to find we'd been burgled. Kitchen window smashed to gain entry. So far we are missing iPad (old test one), 2 x mobile phones (old work ones), camera and Bose headphones, so we got away lightly really - expensive watch and all jewellery was left behind, thank goodness. Rare for our area too. Police were shocked as it doesn't happen round here - they were great, turned up with 5 minutes of the call and spent a couple of hours for photos, forensics, etc. Neighbours video camera doesn't show much, but the Police have the footage.

Oh well, put it down to experience and move on...

Very sorry to hear this and I hope you get some closure, but at least the police appear to be doing all they can. In the UK these days you're lucky if they come out within a couple of days of the call being logged.

If a particularly vicious dog is not practical and your climate permits, you might consider planting Agave below your ground floor windows. These plants are pretty much indestructible and have very hard, needle-sharp spines at the tip of each leaf.
Very much a passive deterrent - but also highly effective in keeping dirtbags away from your home's weak-points.

Wow, sorry to hear that! From what I understand, its a rare crime overall in the USA, even rarer out of the city centers etc! I do hope you are covered with renters insurance? I must admit that I hadnt bothered yet, since my shipment hasnt arrived. But was chatting to the neighbors the other day (like my US spelling already?) and they were telling all sorts of tales of opportunistic crimes - not locking gates, unlocked cars while unloading etc... but the Police here seem to have it fairly easy overall.

Sorry to read about that! An unusual occurrence in that part of the San Jose area.

I don't wander into this section of PH often, but as I'm local to you Viper Larry, I thought I might say hello. wavey If you ever see a blue Caterham in town, that'll likely be me, probably popping into the burger shop or Ace hardware with the wife or son.

Yeah, seems we were just an opportunistic target. Neighbours each side were out as were the ones opposite. Gates, doors, windoes locked, bolted and security bars on place, but smashing a window was too easy :-(

Hey there! Wow, a Caterham local, wasn't expecting that. My brother is the 'Chief Motorsport and Technical Officer' at Caterham Cars in the UK, so I am very familiar with them :-) Maybe you should pop round and get a photo on my drive, that would shock him! Your car looks a lot like his previous one...

What would shock him is to get a photo of YOU in a Caterham on your drive! I'll PM you next time I'll be in that part of town, which is likely to be Saturday.

There are a number of Caterhams in the area. Our annual 7 owner's picnic will be held at Vasona Park on Saturday, August 09 if you're interested.

Cool, was down there on our bikes at the weekend. Would love to pop along. We're near the junction of Union and LG Almaden - send me a mail if you're passing :-)
