Will you be there?

I hope to enter the Sherpa but I may decide to chicken out if I like the opposition better smile

I will be with Bham IPMS near the TSR2, port side this time so I won't be impaling my head on the downhanging VHF/data aerial Yahooooooo!

Starboard side the exhibition tables put the seats right under the Impaler frown

Good to see you again today Perdu!

It was a good show, and lots of new exhibits to see at the museum too.

Despite assuring Mrs_gn that there would be no models purchased, I couldn't resist these that I've had my eye on for a while. Total cost: £13!

Here are a few models that caught my eye, first three of Perdu's:

I still can't believe that Sherpa was totally scrath built. I really liked this glider too:

One of the highlights of the day for me was watching Darth Vader trying to retreive his light sabre (and failing due to a combination of restrictive cloting and obscured vision). The icing on the cake was Boba Fett's fully synthesised brummie response of "while you're down there mate..."

...in fact that little drama made the Dornier 17's 'fully deflated tyres' all the more disappointing wink

I missed the Star Wars clowns completely this time

Well, not true, I don't look out for them anyway smile

Great to see you again doc, I found 'stash man' and came away with Hasegawa's Lightning F6 and Fujimi Hawkeye for about a tenner.

No-one reported anyone taking clandestine photos at the club stand, observation fail no doubt nono

Nice photos too, wish I could get that clear an image.

Should have bunged the Sherpa on the club stand, no good at all in the comp.

At the Dornier exhibit (smell the fruit juice daddy) I saw and heard my man of the day

"Daddy why did the aeroplane crash?" "Why was it here?"

"Because some evil nasty people tried to kill all our good English people"

Ah bless

Yeah...the competition results. Interesting.

Anyway, I hope I've not got the lurgy from whatever was emanating from the Dornier polytunnel - it didn't smell very healthy! I reckon that when it's done, it will make a great display though.

Interesting?

Hmm I think that defines this year and last, I won't be playing their fundraising game again...

OK sour grapes frown and the odd aroma of the fruit acids eating barnacles, seems to go well together.

Hope you are OK, seems to be a bit of lurgy about lately

I had a fabulous time and thought the show was superb. I don't do competitions, but if your Sherpa failed to win anything then that is a travesty.

I don't do competitions either because -

a) the judging is too subjective

b) I'd never win anyway

(I don't count our monthly club competition because any models brought along get entered automatically).

I'm tending to be more relaxed about competitive events these days

If the judges preferred a FW190 sitting on a stick with its wheels coming up, that is their right.

wink

Sometimes when I look at the Sherpa I see bits I might have done differently another time.

If the judges see the same issues they have to move along to another one don't they.

How much time a chap puts in is only relevant to the chap.

But I won't be putting any in next year, twice bitten...

So Eric as you see I am becoming more like you, relaxed in my modelling. smile It is only a game to many,

If it ain't fun there's no point in doing it. I've enough grief dealing with important real life matters.

That's the trick though, keeping it fun. Although I seem to be going through a bit of a modelling block at the moment as I can't find a kit from the stash that would be fun to build. Perhaps another resin girly model would help. biggrin

I'm struggling to get a bit of model mojo going at the moment too. I had to have a few week's break because of one of my theatrical productions - which always puts the kybosh on model building. I reckon this weekend will see me back at the bench.

I've had a break from building for a while, but I got some motivation recently: My next model will be of the P-51B Mustang "Old Crow" (Academy 1:72 bought from Cosford as I mentioned previously). I needed some info on a couple of details on the canopy, and found an American website which had some pictures the aircraft. I e-mailed the webmaster and an hour later got a reply from 92 year old Col. Clarence Anderson, the triple-ace pilot of the original aircraft. Which was...unexpected. I guess there will be no excuses for inaccuracy on this one:

He say's he's hoping to be a Duxford again this year, maybe for another ride in one of the two seat Mustangs. If the model turns out OK I'll ask him to sign the base (and buy his book).

Now that is cool. I saw him at Duxford a few years ago, a very unassuming chap by all accounts.
