Noticed a few pics and build sites show holes (about 10mm diameter) in the lower floor panel where the battery and brake/clutch cylinders are located. I assume this is to let out any trapped water but is not detailed on build sites. Can anyone confirm if holes need to be drilled to the lower floor beneath the battery compartment?

Thanks

Maybe your thinking of the radiator support holes

I have drilled 2 small holes, not 10mm more around 3-4mm diameter, in both the left and the right section which have the radiator support rubber, as by default water can go in but not out. I have three holes in the underside panel of the battery bay too. The holes are always located forwards, as the car in slightly tilted forward with the right suspension adjustment.

OP Yes you will need a couple of holes in the battery area to let water out.

Reference the rad mounting bushes passing through the top skin and therefore allowing water in.
On my build I make the hole in the upper skin slightly larger and bond an ali sleeve into the hole. The rubber mount then sits down inside the sleeve.

Sleeving is an excellent idea, but a little late to do now. I also have drilled two holes in the forward side of both two front panels.

Many thanks so it seems holes are needed in both radiator floor and under battery tray the factory build picture shows what seems to be 2 10mm holes under the battery tray but nothing for the radiator double skin area. I guess for the radiator area it would be useful to continue the holes for the radiator bobbins through both skins this would give both water drainage and access to the rad bobbin underside?

No, The bobbin is secured to the lower skin.

I think it`s not, there`s actually a steel mount plate welded to the chassis which is why you should`t forget to fit the bobbins before the double skin on top.

As SchimmS said above, the rad mount is now held on a plate on the chassis, not in the lower floor.

And not to forget making a hole in the lower sheet under the bobbin nut. I then covered the holes with 2 rubber grommets.

Or mounting the lower bobbins before panelling...

Thanks all mounted bobbins before fitting lower rad floor panel they are tight so I wont be drilling under them for grommets as hopefully will not need access to them again

If you make the holes too small the surface tension of the water inside will prevent it draining easily. 6mm minimum probably needed to avoid this issue.

Yes I have thought about that. This is just a start, as it is easier to expand the diameter of a hole than to reduce it. I will see if 4mm holes will be sufficient, it might work with the heat of the radiator and the vibration.
Anyway, normally the car will not know what rain is.

I guess 4mm should be fine. That's what I have on mine.
