East Germany?
You could equally say they were better for unification. Lets be honest, they could hardly be worse off. I was there post 1989.

Not my rule, Commonwealth Games Rule, only the flags of competitors allowed in the venues.

So; no Union Jacks, no Stars and Stripes, no KwikFit flags...
Edinburger said:
It's inappropriate for the stand alone Union Jack to be flown at the games, just as the Chinese, the Russian and Brazilian flags have no place at the games.

End of.
Apparently the cyclists didn't get your diktat...

In the interests of not wasting money (something clearly not understood by nats) perhaps they decided to use helmets that were already available?

What a ridiculous aspect for nats to focus on in the lead up to the referendum rolleyes

When "look at the flag" is the only arrow you have in your quiver, I guess you have to take every opportunity you can to fire it.......

It would seem that the "flags of competitors" rule is satisfied then. biggrin

Now - if only the rules had said "flag of the country which represents the team the competitor is competing for" - the nats may have had a point hehe

Not really; they are stubbornly refusing to focus on the currency, EU membership, NATO involvement, fiscal projections, jobs, banks, employment issues because they aren't really interested in all that - for most Yes supporters Independence is an emotional issue about their Flag and their identity so issues like the Red Arrows saying they are British and only do red, white and blue, and then Union supporters displaying the Union Flag ARE directly in contention with why they want Independence and exactly what issues do concern them.

The other stuff doesn't matter because the SNP says it doesn't matter and it'll all be ok........

Agreed- but apparently in doing so they were breaking all kinds of rules, so why weren't they told not to wear them? Surely Edingurger and Fluffnik weren't wrong in their assertions?

Just noticed something on the BBC website......the ribbons for the commonwealth games medals are red.

Meaning that the Scottish winners are displaying red, white and blue......just like the red arrows biggrin

A unionist conspiracy........? hehe

Lets face it, the Yes is dead in the water. Short of the Queen making some terrible Rab C Nesbitt type comment about the Scots, the pro-No will walk it.

Salmond, doing interviews last week, could barely look the interviewer in the eye. He knows he's found out, busted and lost.

It's a shame because it just means another 50+ years of this nat crap-spouting going on.

The UK is participating, and no amount of nationalist bile and spin will change that.

Arguing about flags. It really is that pathetic isn't it.
Apologies - I missed the UK on the medal tables. How are they doing?
Funnily enough quite well, the UK has 36 Golds. We're clearly better together.

[Nat Mode]The Red Arrow themselves, being lick-spittle, reactionary, Tory scum, actually had the temerity to overfly the glorious Scottish nation whilst clearly displaying the "butchers' apron" on their tails. No wonder they weren't allowed into the stadium.

In an independent Scotland our steadfast defence teams would have shot them down for such audacity. We would have used the Mk1 catapults with which the peace-loving (unless President Salmond wants us to engage in illegal wars in Syria) air defence teams have been equipped. Any suggestion that the Mk1 catapult is in any way inferior to the radar-controlled surface-to-air missiles used by rUK are illegal and sanctions on naysayers will include forced labour in the haggis mines.

I find that to be quite disturbing. We have always bought free-range farmed haggis believing that their welfare was important. To find that they are trapped has reduced my wife to tears. Like a lot of what has been said on this thread.

My wife has always told me you catch wild haggis by hand.

Since there are lots of hills and mountains, the haggis has evolved to have one leg shorter than the other - this makes walking on the steep inclines much easier for them...........the trick to catching a wild haggis is to chase them the wrong way round the hill/mountain.

And of course a little known fact about the haggis is that, as a species, it displays extreme sexual dimorphism and the male of the species is more commonly known as the sporran and is inedible.

Isn't it a well known FACT that in Scotland deep frying anything and washing it down with Irn Bru makes it edible?
