Someone will be along in a minute to explain the Scottish Nationalism is a nice warm fluffy sort of "civic nationalism" and is in no way based on the belief that we(that's the collective, Scotland acting as one unit because Nationalist do love to speak on my behalf, We) are somehow magically more moral, more productive and more trustworthy(esp our politicians) than our counterparts over the border(even the ones from Scotland)....... Remember, the important bit is the line across the map - the side you are standing on determines just how good a person you are.
Don't forget more compassionate.

Unable to even sort their own TV broadcasting service out without being branded as fantasists with make believe ideas.

Sums the whole shoddy situation up in my opinion.

"Lord Birt attacked as “make-believe” Alex Salmond’s claim that the BBC would provide all its programmes for free in return for the shows produced by the First Minister’s proposed new Scottish Broadcasting Service (SBS)."

So they get Top Gear, Dr Who and Masterchef for free - and we get what, Ballamory, Beechgrove Garden and the option to watch BBC Alba.........yeh right biggrin

"But Blair Jenkins, Yes Scotland chief executive and former head of news and current affairs at BBC Scotland, said: “BBC programmes and services will continue to be available to audiences in Scotland as they are to audiences in Ireland and other European countries.

“To suggest otherwise is the classic Project Fear approach – ignore the evidence from elsewhere and dream up dismal predictions.”

What evidence is there going against what Lord Birt said?!

Why would they even want to get into a discussion about TV.

Worst case for "yes": Scottish people continue to pay a licence fee, that's sent to the BBC and in return they get the same BBC content they currently get.

Best case for "yes": A reduced payment to the BBC, based on the BBC taking some scottish produced content and or making use of scottish broadcaster facilities.

The more I hear from the "Yes" group the more I wonder how they get any people on their side.

Evidence Blair J is making up. The usual SNP kind. Like EU legal advice and technical discussions with the BoE on CU. Has Swinney resigned yet?

Could any nats who haven't been banned give us their thoughts on the privatisation of the NHS in engerland?

As the SNP would never put government money towards private health care

Would they

See my post earlier on this page, that £100m is WAY higher.

See the FOI link I put up with costs.

Staggering how they can claim one thing is ruining the NHS yet do the exact samething.

The EU dictates a private health care system and we know how much Scotland wants the EU

I am coming to the conclusion that nationalism is a curse of the modern world at the moment.

These things go in cycles. Right now we are in a cycle where nationalism is on the rise - even from privileged, fat parts of the world with frankly little to complain about.

Nationalism is the opposite to what I think is needed. The risks and uncertainties of the world these days are best faced through cooperation and working together.

Nationalism represents a school of thought that celebrates division. It encourages people to highlight the differences they have between each other, rather than focus on what we all have in common.

Nationalism is ugly and divisive. It usually fails too. Ultimately, countries and peoples with common aims tend to group together.

Will be glad when this is all over. Salmond is a misguided, puffed-up, egotistical wee man. Thankfully this will soon be over.

Nationalism is an infantile disease. It is the measles of mankind.
Apparently really intelligent and enlightened people are the ones supporting this nationalist movement. Someone should have told Mr Einstein that.

Scottish independence: Former farmers' union leaders split on referendum

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-pol...

BBC said:
Six former presidents of NFU Scotland have argued that being part of the Union gives Scottish farmers access to the UK market and EU subsidies.

Meanwhile, four former presidents have backed independence, claiming that a "No" vote would mean "uncertainty" over the UK's membership of the EU.
So basically four former NFU presidents are saying we should vote yes because a vote for No would possibly...maybe...put our position in the EU at risk as we might be having a vote in 2016 for staying or leaving the EU.

If we vote yes wont we definitely be out of the EU? It beggers believe it really does.

Scottish independence: Sir Ian Wood issues warning over oil predictions

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-pol...

BBC said:
A leading oil industry figure has claimed that the Scottish government's predictions for North Sea oil recovery are up to 60% too high.

The figure of 24bn barrels is quoted in the White Paper as an estimate from industry body Oil and Gas UK.

But Sir Ian Wood said that figure was 45% to 60% too high, and estimated production would be down to a sixth of the current levels by 2050.

He believes there are about 15bn to 16.5bn barrels of recoverable oil left.

Sir Ian warns that an independent Scotland would lose out badly in terms of energy economics.
So the SNP's party political propaganda piece (white paper) is being questioned again. No surprise there.

The Queen was in Glasgow where she bumped into Alex Salmond.
HM: “How nice to see you Mr Salmond”.
AS: “Nice to see you Ma’am. Now, what are we going to call Scotland when we win
Independence? How about calling it a Kingdom, and then I’ll be a King”?
HM: “No, we don’t like that idea Mr Salmond”.
AS: “Empire, and I'll be Emperor”?
HM: “No. I don’t think so Mr Salmond”.
AS: “OK, so how about calling it a Principality, and then I’ll be a Prince”?
HM: “No, Mr Salmond. May I suggest that we simply call it a Country?

Oil and gas UK are neutral on the subject according to the press realise.

Oil and gas people on the other hand are a recruitment consultant that carried out a poll that suggested a pro yes was the majority.

I think people are confusing the two and putting more gravitas on oil and gas people.

My mistake, O&G people do back the yes vote, though - its just me getting confused again.
