Last winter we had a £500 gas and electricity bill for the quarter. Turns out she was leaving the back door open all day so the dog could walk in and out as it pleased. The heating was left on all day with no one in the house and the thermostat is placed so it felt the full benefit of the cold air from outside.
Women just do not understand the concept of how central heating works; both the youngest and the wife whack up the thermostat "to heat the house quicker" then invariably forget it is as high as it is, last night I got home from work to find the youngest, who was in by herself had put the heating up high as "it was cold" then she proceeded to play with the dog outside and left the front door wide open.

Why do women like to chat on the door step; this is another bugbear of mine, early morning a friend drops her kids round for the wife to take to school so they decide to chat, one in the hall and the other outside with the heating blaring away, arghhhhh!!

As well as the drop in energy and bogroll consumption, I noticed a massive decrease in water use - if you're living alone make sure you've got a water meter fitted to reap that benefit wink

( Mainly achieved through only washing dishes when I'm about to run out of clean stuff, instead of filling a sink full of hot water every day to wash a couple of plates and cups. Same for washing clothes - only done when there's enough for a full load in the washer. And why do women seem to feel the need to flush the toilet twice every time they visit it ? )

A years supply for the average man.

A weekends worth for the average woman.

WTF do they do with it?
You need to eat more fibre.
Fibre, fruit and then the good stuff like kebabs, dog burgers etc. Combined with energetic consumption of alcoholic beverages, there's going into to be a somewhat skinny bog roll knocking around.
It does seem like some people here need more vindaloo and lager....

. More importantly, do you not put pans and pots in with dishes.
Some people do: perverts mainly.
It all goes in together, it all gets cleaned.

you forget lights, mine seems to think every light needs to be on in the house at all times.

I get home from work and our house seems to glow like its radioactive.

my wife seems to get through washing up liquid, a bottle a week....... even with a dishwasher.

Where are you all finding these spendthrifts? My house is a freezing Stygian pit.

I do like a decent wodge of bog roll though.

Never mind about loo roll, what about kitchen roll, why does every little spill need to be wiped up with at least two sheets of top quality kitchen roll when there's a perfectly good dish cloth within arms reach!!

The sharp cut tile edge will still slice through the glove and your finger the silicon will then go pink from your blood. With luck you'll clean the silicon out before it goes hard after you pass out.
That sounds so much like my recent floor tiling experience.

I live in a 2 bed rented flat, my best friend has recently parted ways with her partner and has come to live with me.
Don't get me wrong I love living with her but my god, she doesn't half go through toilet rolls, Dettol and air freshener... don't understand where it all goes!

the savings can be staggering but the point is that i simply cannot understand women & it is only ever women who are incapable of missing the point here, it is waste, i don't use the the dishwasher as i have yet to understand it, its like the star ship enterprise, i prefer my old dishwasher - my previous girlfriend, who became more bearable after i paid for some surgery for her, i had her voice box removed.

This is the one I really struggle to understand. My Mrs is obsessive about turning off the TV/computer/radio/etc if they're not being used for more than 30 seconds, but will happily leave all the lights in the house on.

Used to be cheap living on my own,£6 week electric, gas £30 summer, £100 winter per quarter.house phone just line rental/broadband.
washing machine once twice a week.Owned a SLK230, and a van and an A4 tdi.
now married with 3 of her children{ 17,18,26} not one working, total users, electric £15-£20 a week, gas bill as high as £360!and just can't buy enough toilet roll!gets worse 26year old,we have to pay for his car,as wife was on the finance agreement!told her not too, we have 2 dogs off him as he could't afford them, 17 year old is starting his way into low life, likes weed and does not want to work at all, kicked out of collage as he wasted their time, can't even try to sign on/or go to careers office as it's too much hassle!
Wife works overtime to pay for the finance on his car,I'm working 3 part time jobs, {60hours plus}.wife won't move them out though.
anyway rant over, have to make changes soon as it's effecting my health, and I've aged terribly lately.
Huge cost benefit living on your own, I could survive on a smaller wage much easier than now,and was happier before which is priceless.
