What's Stansted Airport like to get to?

If decided to choose the flight from there I will be travelling from Bristol.
Google maps suggest 2.5hrs

I think your main problem will be the M25 bit of your journey. Can be smooth sailing, can be a complete nightmare. From there it's only a short hop up the M11 and fairly painless.

Although this all depends on what time of day you're travelling.

Much prefer using Stansted than Heathrow or Gatwick.

Hi , I'm a newbie but I thought I'd give something back to PH as they have helped on so many topics , I travel from essex benfleet to swindon every other week 150 miles one way , it takes anything from 2 hrs 6.00am on Saturday to 3,5 hrs on a Sunday evening . The m25 road works at 50 mph really extend journey 16 miles of it I .would give 4 hrs from Bristol to be safe , or stay in a premier inn a bit closer to stansted and do park and fly . Hope this helps .

Stansted from Bristol is a long and unpredictable journey. At the moment there are road works on the M25 near J with M11,long queues. If you HAVE? to fly from Stansted why not travel the day before and stay at the Premier Inn on one of their "Sleep/Park/Fly" deals.I`ve just booked,room,8 days parking, dinner & b/fast for two,the lot for £128.90.!!!
Shame you can not fly from Bristol??

Park and fly is a good option, as it will take some of the stress out of things - just depends on your flight times.

I do the trip along the M4 from time to time, from South Wales this can be 2hours off-peak from Newport to the M25 with a good run. The M25 can be a lottery, but the M11 is normally fine, so anything from 2-5 hours from there if there's been an accident.

Have always liked Stansted, but since I moved from NE London have only used it once..

Train to Paddington. Tube (Circe/District) or taxi to Liverpool Street. Stanstead express to Stansted. Station is in airport.

I did this journey for 52 weeks as I was working in Braintree. Now do it 5-6 times a year.Takes about 3hrs. Travel the night before just in case of delays. Premier Inn usually charge between 29 & 35 on a deal if purchased 2 weeks in advance, if staying over a week try the mid-stay parking as it's the nearest,a 5 minute bus ride and drops off outside the terminal, long stay is 15 minutes away and a pain in the arse in all respects, drop off and pick up are in the lower carpark (not nice when raining). Book parking through holiday extras as always an offer on. Go direct with Premier Inn and click through a cashback website.
I'd compare both for the added parking.
I parked in mid-stay last month through topcashback and holiday extras, 28 days £72.Barrier price was £550.

I don't think Premier Inn have any route signs up yet so follow mid-stay/Holiday Inn and you'll get there.

Thanks for the comments

There are flights with bristol
But stanstead with 2 adults and 2 children came out considerably cheaper like £4-500
Take into account of fuel £100 maybe £400 saving max

But then consider 2 younger ones what's that worth if it was a 3-4 hour journey!

Looked at stay over but then will still be doing the mileage and time and reduce the savings

So may just pay the extra to leave from bristol

You'll be fine, just leave in enough time.

Prebook the car park and save money.

As airports go it's poor. Far too small for the amount of people who use it.
