what torque wrench used?

Hi guys was just wondering what torque wrench you guys use for the centerlock wheels. Went out and bought a brand new 3/4 inch one for this and learned it only torques up one way which is useless for the wheels on the left side. So have to go find a different one. Thanks

Oh that's interesting, I was going to buy a Halfords one for centrelocks and didn't even consider whether it would work both ways!

Which one did you buy?

If it is similar to my Halfords 1/2" one then you push the head out & insert it from the other side & then it works the other way.

I havent got one that works yet both ways sat here with one thats useless to me.

If you look at the closeup picture of the head - as already mentioned all you do is push the 4 sided section into the head and it pops out the other side thus reversing the direction. Note this one is only half inch.

I've never heard of one that only goes one way. Check whether it works the same way as the above!

Yup that is the 1/2" one I have, pretty sure the 3/4" is the same.

I have one of these, the black plastic head pulls off with the square drive attached, you push it in from the other side and, as if by magic, it is reversed

Not a lot of use for wheels though

Mine works for wheels just as well as anything else!

I bought a Sealy 3/4 inch and discovered the same thing. If yours is the same then you need to remove two screws in the black plate at the head, and reverse the drive - obvious once you open it.
I think Halfords only do a 1/2 inch? which is no good for the new 240ftlbs required.
I wasn't able to find a reversable 3/4 inch, so might end up buying another cheap Sealy and have one for left, one for right.

Thats the one i bought as well thought of doing that but unscrewing every time what a pain in the ass i found a beta one that you push through for about 140 quid or there is the option like you said have 2

The halfords one I linked to is a 300lbft wrench so is fine for wheels. Doesn't matter whether it's quarter or half inch.

Somewhere between 15/64" and 17/64", if I'm not mistaken!!

I am sure that the earlier reference to not mattering if it was a quarter or half inch was a typo, so let's cut the poster a bit of slack, because surely we are all on here to try and help where we can!

Yes I'm mistaken, I had misread it as lbft. It's approx 221lbft which used to be enough but isn't any more. And yes I meant half inch not quarter inch. It *is* a half inch tool.

But you could perhaps find more polite ways of correcting people's mistakes. Ever made one yourself maybe?

I've got a Teng Tools torque wrench that works both left and right.
I'm very keen on making sure the wheels stay on...
