Thanks for the ongoing advise guys. Been looking around and quite like the Alinghi Polaris special edition, anyone got any thoughts on this model? Cheers

Yes, but I'll keep them to myself.

I expect the word 'Russian' to crop up within the next 3 posts wink

Listen, if you like it, you want to wear it and you have the money to spend - buy what YOU will enjoy and it will make YOU happy smile

Thoughts? I prefer the simple baton markers rather than the subdial-butchered numerals in the Alinghi.

I know we are all different but I couldn't spend 000's of pounds on a watch that looked plain dull and boring like some do. I suppose that's why I like my Breitling's, Daytona's etc.

However, that's just an abomination smile.

I'd just buy the watch that you want mate. I couldn't give a toss what people thought about what I was wearing on my wrist. I was told the other day that I shouldn't be wearing my Breitling with a mesh bracelet with my navy suit. I should have had my leather strapped navitimer. I wasn't aware of these rules and was more bothered matching my tie than my watch.

That will be as "depreciation proof" as a Phaeton. Not one on of APs finest moments. Makes fashion jewellery out of the classic Genta design. The regular Diver is better.
love that quote " as depreciation proof as a Phaeton"

to the OP ....you have been told !! smile

Noted on all your comments. It was the limited edition bit that got me thinking, on reflection it wouldn't be for me anyway. Especially given the negative reaction to the image it might portray.

It's not a rule, it's a convention. I wouldn't wear a thin gold dress watch to a rockers pub for the same reason.

I am intrigued - what would you wear to a rockers pub then?

Watchcentre have had this for ages (Carbon Fibre Team Alinghi). I like it more than your suggestion.

Sorry, I'm not clever enough to link the pics.

Well having thought about it I realised I would never sell whatever I got so the depreciation part went out of the window. After viewing quite a few I went with this one:
AP Safari

Lovely watch and proper quality item (feels much higher quality than the Rolexes), got it for what seems a very good price so am pretty happy.

My other watches:
Rolex Yacht-master

Vintage Air King:

Sorry about the rubbish photos only had the I-phone to hand.

Something other than a thin gold dress watch.

I've done some PP business with Boodles before. There isn't ANY Nautilus that I can think of which has a genuine wait list from them.

The only truly difficult to get PP is the 5131 which really is a mission if you want to pay the circa £45k list OR some of the advanced research ones, mega minute repeater chronos which are around £350,000+.

The Nautilus' are, I maintain, readily available. The 5712A was hot for a while. It's not now.
Nick Wainwright the owner of Boodles even offered to get the PP5131 for my brother .....not sure if he was serious but certainly an extensive range of Nautilus are available from Boodles in Liverpool.......i was trying them on a few weeks ago

I really wonder whether he was serious? Unless of course you're a big big buyer of PP's (which I, sadly, am not)...

Somewhat appallingly for my bank manager, I've bought three PP's from Boodles in Knightsbridge - two Complications and a Grand Complication and when I spoke about a 5131 to Paul Reader (lovely chap) he said, that it's more or less never going to happen with so few pieces..

To O/P - congratulations on your AP mate. Make sure you WEAR it though and don't leave it in the safe!
