Hello all,

I'm planning a trip to the 'Ring May 27 -June 2 and am finding it difficult to get accommodation. Last year I stayed in a beautiful apartment that was cheap and whithin walking distance of Adenau. Sadly it's booked already and I've checked booking.com and countless other sites via google search but still not found anywhere. Anyone know anywhere I can try?

I don't want to stay in a hotel, a little self catering apartment would be idealsmile

Also I've been told Adenau is one of the best places to stay but is there anywhere else I should be looking?

Finally can anyone suggest a good route? last time I just followed the sat nav and it was fine but maybe theres a nicer way to go.

Embarrassed to admit this but I don't know what the sign is for de-restricted autobahn. Can anyone enlighten me please?

Many thanks in advance for any help, so excited about going!!

Cheers,
Sam

Re: de-restriction sign - my understanding is that it's a bit like our NSL signs, but three black lines instead of a solid bar.

Re: accommodation - I've always stayed at Sliders guest house in Dollendorf. The owner Brendan Keirle is a character and a formidable authority on the Ring and the area, he's also well acquainted with Jorg, the chef at the Comfy Corner in Adenau, and he's fun to drink with too. It's mostly a biker's guest house which is why I like it but car drivers are welcome

Many thanks for this will remember about the three black lines similar to our nsl signssmile

I really wanted an apartment so will see if I can find one before looking at guest houses..

Sam, you have looked at http://www.nurburgring.org.uk, right? Hotel An Der Nordschleife has some apartment-type rooms, and there are a couple of route recommendations on the Directions page. It's my website.

Thanks again - I've checked this and as far as I can see it's fully booked (checking booking.com) also it's a room as opposed to an apartment. I think!

I really want an apartment, so many lovely looking places online, would much prefer this than staying in a hotel/guest house.

You can try the Lindner Ferienpark (link: http://www.lindner.de/de/hotel_ferienpark_nuerburg... ) On the booking page go to the top left drop down box and it will give you the option of Ferienpark.

I still have not stayed but good for smallish groups of the financially astute. Breakfast room on site but a kitchen et cetera for those that prefer 'spag bol'.

Hi Pip - thanks a lot for this.. I'm probably being really stupid but can't seem to follow your instructions. Once I've changed the language to English the "frie...." Option from the drop down menu on the left disappears...
Will try on computer later, maybe it doesn't work on iPhone..

Sorry to hi-jack. But I am also planning to drop by the nurburgring around the same dates as the OP ( after Monaco GP)

Can anyone recommend somewhere decent to camp by the ring?

If you have a satnav with speed limits on it will say as well. For example my TomTom will say 70/70 meaning you are doing 70 and limit is 70.... when the /70 disappears and just the speed appears. DISCO smile

Sometimes they do put speed limits up in normally derrestricted sections... but thats really clear.

Don't melt your engine on way out though lol!

Enjoy Sam

Laacher See is an option for camping. It's right by a lake as you might have guessed and is rather pretty. 30 minute drive to the ring.
