The Problem - Drivers window not responding. Will not go up or down.

Have done a lot of searching on this problem and still have not found the answer so looking for any more help / tips!

Ill try keep this as less complicated as possible as to what I have done so far,

-Car has been sat with door open and window stuck half way down (with no battery connected) for a few months. I knew window was stuck all that time.
-First checked the fuse labelled Drivers Door ECU Window (20A) - it was bust.
-Replaced it with a new one.
-Connected battery back up - ambers flashed and window automatically went all the way down to the bottom - motor must be working.
-Twisted window knob to move window - fuse bust again straight away (window did not move)
-Replaced the fuse again, shut the door (door working perfectly at this point), tried again and this time the fuse did not blow and the window still did not move but now the door would not open from either inside or outside!!
-Checked all fuses and they were all ok (drivers door ecu (10A) & drivers window ecu (20A))
-Located the Door ECUs under the centre console and swapped them around (passenger window and door working perfectly)
-Drivers door now opens fine again - took apart the drivers door ECU to find a copper wire on the circuit board had burnt out.

But still drivers window will not budge!

Took off the door card, located the door encoder and multiplugs to motor etc and gave them all a clean with contact cleaner - still no difference.

I have ordered a replacement Door ECU which is required no matter what as mines broke, and have ordered a new window encoder, unsure if this will make any difference but I suppose it is one more thing to eliminate.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this before?
Can anyone please give me any other things to do / check as this is really bugging me!
Thanks

You could try the microswitch behind the silver panel in the door shut, where the latch is. Mine needed a clean with some contact cleaner and works fine now. You may also need to bend the arm of the microswitch to make sure it is activating. Good luck!

I happened to go on ebay yesterday for something to kill time, and there are a lot of parts for sale on there for Tuscans, door ECU's as well. Hope this helps.

I would suggest that it is the door encoder, if you can remove it, check the two plastic prongs to see if they are worn out, it happened on mine where the metal fan wheel was wearing one side out, replacement of said part is the only solution, about £20-£30 to replace.

Managed to get both the door ecu and window encoder from ebay for decent prices. Just waiting for them to come through the post then I'll see how I get on! Fingers crossed...

When i went to view my Tuscan owner advised the windows have a 'mind of their own' so done the switches and iv not had any problems. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 twists before the window responds.. but it responds lol although absolutely no life at all could possibly be a break on the loom ?

Problem seems to be solved.

New door ecu with new window encoder, double checked all fuses, plugged the battery in, took a wee while for the window to respond but once it did it works perfectly now. Pretty sure it was the encoder that was the problem all along, thanks for help!

How do you get at the encoder?

The encoder is screwed on to the top of the window motor, need to remove the door card for access.
