Anyone have any history on this car?
Discussion
Hi,
I'm a previous Chimp 450 owner and have spotted what looks like a rather nice reflex purple cerb at Racing Green here:
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/t...
Apparently the car was originally red but was repainted by RG, it also appears to have had the obligatory S6 engine rebuilt by Austec. Does anyone know anything about the car?
Thanks in advance,
Fox

Its my old car. I bought it from Tony Gilbert 2 years ago. Was originally Arena Red, now reflex charcoal (not purple).
They said they would price it to sell as the S6 demand is not as as strong as the AJP.
Its a solid car on the whole - these are the things to check out:
- rear passenger side seat squab is loose - check if fixed
- cold starting has always been distinctly lumpy - think this is related to the Austec rebuild and it probably needs a good mapping session - if viewing insist on starting it from cold.
- when hot, check for hesitancy around 2k
- Had some overheating issues never fully resolved - have it tickover and keep an eye on gauge - check temps with a laptop
- water ingress has been an issue including boot - check if addressed
Performance is immense - though not compared it to other S6 cerbs - the power comes in with a bang and can unsettle the rears in any gear. It has brand new AST shocks (recommended by RG over nitrons)and SP12s, refurbished temp gauge, and rubber fuel lines replacing the copper ones (check at every service). The respray was about 6 months ago and I also had a partial refurb done by Central when I bought it (seat squabs recovered, headlining, detailing, HIDs on dip).
Its a stunning-looking car in my view and I did not want to sell but a combination of circumstances forced my hand. Definitely worth a test drive.

I can't see the price problem to be honest. It looks good value and it comes with a 12 month warranty. If anyone's still scared of that they should stick to Mondeos IMHO.
I think we are saying the same thing - the price problem is it seems too cheap not the other way around. Gassing Station | Cerbera | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
