I was speaking to someone the other day who told me that Audi have been working on an R9 prototype for around 6 months now. I've had a look on-line and I can't seem to find anything confirming this.

Has anyone heard anything?

Yes there will be an R8 replacement based on the same chassis as the Lamborghini Huracan

No, sorry

Just like the R8 was on a very similar platform to the Gallardo the R8 replacement will share the basic chassis of the Huracan

Expect it to be released roughly 18-24 months after the Huracan

It's testing at the Nurburgring. http://fourtitude.com/news/audi-rumors-renders-spy...

It's got cladding on it but it seems like they're doing a similar thing as the new TT, looks more like a facelift than a new car.

There isn't actually any reference to R9 though is there? So it could well be a facelift that will remain under the R8 name?

The only place I've heard the name R9 is this thread, it's the new R8 as far as I've seen. Here's an article about the test cars, with some tech details. Huracan based, more carbon in the chassis, stiffer, lighter. http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Secret-new-cars/Searc...

Informed dealer told me new R8 would be launched as both v8 and v10 simultaneously and would be previewed early 15 and first customer cars a few months later
Didn't confirm, but inferred that it would be DSG ONLY
