Van Diemen Single Seater - Sprint time!
Discussion
tacky. I have a load of used Michelin formula renault tyres. The slicks might be a tad but cheap they are a tad hard for sprinting but the wets are really good. Sizes are 16 x 53 x 13 (front) and 23 x 57 x 13 (rear)
Guess your first job is the fun one of making yourself a seat?

I finally got round to starting it up today, not a particularly exciting video but I was quite pleased that it started and made a nice noise (not reflected in the video clip unfortunately!)

It's under consideration, the lack of run of is a little scary at this point. Maybe when I have more experience.
The scariness just adds to the excitement Gurston Down do school days throughout the year ( Here ) and I would highly recommend it. I'd been doing Gurston for a few years and it helped me shave a bit more off when I did it. It gives you a good feel for it as well as teaching and/or refreshing techniques. It's particularly useful for Gurston, but what you learn can be transferred to other climbs.
You won't be able to do it in the VD, as the car for the school day has to be road legal, but the Elise would be great for it if you still have it.
I am assuming at this point you haven't done a hillclimb at all, rather than doing it in the VD being the scary part. Either way, when ( ) you do a climb, just take it steady and enjoy it. It would be a crime not to do a climb in the VD, but I warn you, it gets very addictive!

Alas, the Elise has gone and ultimately replaced by the VD. I'm sure I'll do a hill climb but first things first is to do some sprinting
Not a bad replacement at all! Fair enough, I apologise that I might have got carried away with the hill climbing. I'll hush now and look forward to more updates!Spent some time getting ready for the maiden voyage on Thursday. It's forecast rain unfortunately which isn't my preferred weather status for my first drive!
Well, we'll start with a lovely shot of my knees shod in Levi's finest. These aren't what I'll be wearing whilst racing of course
Spent some time replacing the harnesses. The old ones were fine (out of date) but the seller included a brand new harness so I thought I might as well!
Also replaced the nasty blue padding, which was worn out, with some black stuff. It looks great!
Finally, slapped the wets on ready. I wanted to make sure my jack worked alright.
