Hi guys,

Having driven from Essex to Berkshire, on arrival at the hotel, as I slowed to turn in the engine rev'd up to 2,500 unexpectedly and then continued idling high and then dropping.

Green flag have been out and given the above error code and said its the idle air control system. Couple of things I need help with:

1) can I limp the car back to Essex (60 miles), my understanding is that it will only overfuel
2) does anyone know/recommend someone in East London/Essex that can fix this before next weekend when I have to drive to Wales?
3) is it just the throttle housing/system that needs replacing and how much should it cost?

Cars is a 2003 wrx PPP wagon.

Thanks in advance guys.

Chris

Should be P0519.

Could be IAC, just as likely to be a vacuum leak/loose hose, badly fitted air filter base, etc.

More likely to run lean than rich, but should be driveable (tends only to affect revs at idle).

No idea of cost, but, obviously, you want to check for leaks and try a diagnostic on the IAC before shelling out for a new one.

Sometimes cleaning the throttle body does the job -- brake cleaner/carb cleaner. Clean the outside first, then remove the booger, clean the inside.
