Why are simple fixes not just implemented quickly?

It struck me today that there are several irritating parts of using PH that are actually quite simple fixes. I just wonder why these aren't quickly dealt with.

The 2 that spring to mind at this point:

1. The old urls without trailing slash don't work, but used to. Quick rewrite rule.

2. When someone double/triple/more posts. Why not just have a quick check whether the posted message is the same as their last contribution to the thread and if it is, just ask whether or not they want to go ahead. Not quite so quick but should be less than an hours work.

The very simple cookie fix I suggested a very long time ago (such that if you log in to pistonheads.com rather than www.pistonheads.com, you'll not be logged in if you click a link to the other) still hasn't been implemented. And as a developer, I know it is simple

Point out the issue by all means. Highlight how it impacts you, sure.

But without a knowledge of the architecture and any (maybe silly with hindsight) constraints it's bad form to say they are easy fixes

With respect, you're unaware of my knowledge of both the architecture and the technical aspects of implementing these (simple) fixes.

Not only that, but the stuff I'm suggesting could also harm the cause from a SEO perspective (PH is a relatively strong site as it is, but every little helps) but also pisses off users unnecessarily so makes business sense to have working asap.

Stuart left. His replacement shows little face on the forum. Comes from Autotrader
Garlick is leaving.
IT intervention is on the face of it minimal. Certainlty on Website Feedback since Stuart left PH staff posts have reduced drastically. I suspect they have been deployed elsewhere....
Haymarket has not been doing well..... New or old bosses back.

We of course don't know how much PH makes or costs Haymarket, and also how they value the forum as supporting classifieds.

Still I see dark clouds....

Really?

That answer says to me: "it's not a system problem, it's a user problem."

Ergo, it's not a problem we need to fix, if that attitude carries across then that's why "easy" things don't get done.
