...I like timber in my cars smile

I'm currently pondering the 635d convertible (E64). However most have dashboard/centre consoles that are either black or silver metal. Did they fit wood inserts in convertibles, if so is it worth waiting for one to appear, and if not how good are those trim packs for $220 from the US?

Ta!

NB: How weatherproof are BMW convertibles? Is it OK to leave them outside or should I get the garage extended to fit it?

You're old!!! Haha

They must have had wood available in them, I've seen plenty of E63s with it.

They are a pretty modern BMW, they should be pretty impervious to the rain I would think.

As long as it's not the "wrong kind" of rain, you'll be right.

Any other views on how to convert a non-wood interior to wood please?

Thanks. Soooo.. they print wood effect onto something, presumably sheet plastic? Do I have to make and send templates? If so it's not a practical option I think.

Just looking for a wood trim kit for a 635 in RHD really smile

I don't fancy dismantling the inside of a BMW.

I'll call my local dealer next week and see what they say.

Well you'd have to dismantle something if you were fitting a trim kit confused

Your dealer will want lots of money I bet. BMW's are simple to take apart, you just need to know how. I'm sure there will be a guide on a forum somewhere.

Well in the past (525 and Jaguar) I've been able to source a set of s/a bits that just stick on. Not as good as OEM I agree and probably quite horrible if you like aluminium, but quite passable.

I reckon a dealer will want £1K+ but a friendly chat might reveal other ways of skinning this particular cat smile

If anyone knows of an aftermarket stick-on kit do fire away!
