Hi folks

Looking for commentary from those in the "know"...how much would I be looking to pay for a re-spray of :

Jag XF ... full bonnet.

I have a stone chip that has broken the paint and left a small dent (<10p)...but the car is leased and needs to be sorted before the lease is out. Berks / Bucks area.

I will be calling round a few paint shops around me...but wanted to get the power of pistonheads for a ballpark figure you would expect ?

cant you get the dent removed and leave the chip, you should be allowed 4-5 on the bonnet as general wear and tear on your leasing policy.
Would work out a lot cheaper than painting the bonnet, which I would guess is going to be around the £500 mark.

Good call!

OP. Have a look at your policy ..... fair wear and tear should allow the chip but not the dent.

Agree that getting the dent out would be your best bet. Failing that I would estimate the respray of a bonnet to cost £3-500 depending on finish/colour smile

I'd also consider a smart repair, but as has been mentioned a couple of stone chips won't be a problem - there is a guide from the british association of lease companies (or something like that) that says what is and isn't acceptable.

A bonnet respray isn't appropriate for SMART repair. The chip can be filled, but depending on the colourmay still be quite visible. 7even's suggestion is the way forward.

Don't know where in the world you are, but I was very happy with dentpusher. He doesn't do paint though.

A few mates have had work done by these and were very pleased with the results http://www.littleknocks.co.uk/

Just to close this...I had a SMART repair guy come and look at it and he was honest in the fact that it would likely be clearly visible as it's on a large flat surface...so he didn't want to touch it.

It's not the dent that's the problem, it's the chip...as it's gone right through the lacquer and paint...and that is a fail on fair wear and tear and they aren't going to miss it as it's smack bang in the middle of the bonnet.

Have gone to a local paint shop who have given me a reasonable price for a full bonnet respray (unfortunately) .. but I don't want to give Jag the option of choosing where it gets done as I'm sure the price would be double what I will pay.

Thanks for all your help and comments
