Hello,

I'm looking for somewhere to go for a week or so beach holiday nearish to Barcelona in Mid June. I'm in Barcelona with work the week of the 15th and my girlfriend is going to fly out and meet me aftwerwards. We've both been to Barcelona before so want to get out of the city and relax on a beach somewhere.

Does anyone have any recommendations? We tend to stay in private apartments rather than hotels and would be happy with somewhere that allows at least a different restaurant/bar each night rather than somewhere majorly geared up for tourism. Being a beach holiday a good beach and nice sea is crucial.

Any help appreciated,

TMFD

What about Barcelona itself? I recall being on a beach there several years ago, a nudist beach at that (full of dirty old men though)

Yup, Barcelonetta beach is nice, the nudist bit is right at the top and well out of the way. Lots of private apartments in the area too.

Barcelona is great and does have many good things, but the beach is a bit crowded and you get fed up of saying no to beer and water and don't let your stuff out of your sights!! BCN is great (i lived there for nearly 4 years) and it has a beach and lots more.
You could try Sitges which is just a short train ride down the coast and lovely. It is the local Gay town, so if you don't want to see men holding hands, don't go, but it's inclusive of everyone and has quirky shops and a big nightlife and good restaurants.

Another vote for Sitges. Very nice, and I'm straight.

Other places you could try are llanca which is north of BCN. It's ok, but not great food. Taragona has a great town square and decent beaches, but not the variety of Sitges. Castadefells is ok, but eating is not as good in my opinion...

Thanks for the replies so far.

As I said we have both been to Barcelona before and want to get out to somewhere smaller and quieter.

Does anyone have any experience of Llafranch?

cannot help with there, but many of the little towns down the coast are lively, but a bit dull. Depends what you are looking for

I drive down to Peniscola. It's a fair old crack but worth it and motorway all the way.

HI i went to Salou in January last year just for Port Aventura rides and theme park. i found a wonderful beach resort 2 miles south of Salou . its has a marina and lovely beaches , good restaurants its called CAMBRILS , i loved it there . also there are buses out from barcalona direct to salou , its about an hour .
