Hi

I'm currently on the search for a 2006/2007 B7 RS4 Avant. My primary critera are mileage (sub 40k would be ideal) and colour (Daytona Grey) and ideally with the standard sport seats rather than the buckets.

I have found what appears to be the perfect car being sold privately and, while I'm not totally put off by a private sale, I obviously have some reservations. I will make sure the usual checks are carried out (hpi, mileage, insurance etc), and I am fairly well read on the common faults with the B7 RS4. I haven't seen any of the paperwork yet, but will be looking very closely at the maintenance history (claimed to be full Audi main dealer).

My question relates to pre-purchase inspections - does anyone know if Audi will do this for a car they are not selling themselves? Would you recommend the RAC inspection or are there any other Audi/performance car specialists that you have used who provide this service?

Thanks in advance for your advice.
James

You can book it in to an Audi centre for an inspection. they will do an AUC if you ask them. May be better to find an indy though.

Get either MRC or Unit 20 to check it out.

I too am in SW London, and Audi VW Specialists in Leatherhead look after my B7 RS4. The proprietor is an Audi trained technician of the old school, and might be an option for an inspection.

I'd do (did) this.

I also wouldn't be looking at a car with low miles necessarily. These cars need to be used, and some of the common issues only service (and get rectified if looked after) with use.

If it's the 'two previous owners' (so that'll be 3 owners on the V5) and 'selling on behalf of someone else' then it is wise to be cautious. I don't know the car, it could be a perfect buy, but I think that you are wise to get an inspection. I know of a couple of independents you could consider...

I was pleased with http://www.abtechavssltd.com/ who, although I booked in for pads/discs all round, were honest enough to point out that the rears didn't need changing.

I have also heard good reports of http://www.brookspeed.com/Audi.htm.
