I'm sure there has been stuff on here regarding the French motor-rail service.
Seem to remember that it was wrt taking a car to Northern Italy...However, guess there is a similar service to the French Mediterranean coast.

Might be worth googling? or a phone call to one of the car tour companies?

Potentially a silly question, but don't you just drive it ? The south of France isn't that far at all.

Motorail option: Paris - Nice. They closed the Calais operation due to low take up a few years ago. This service is overnight and car only, you have to transport yourself by other means.

The Northern Italy route goes to/from Rotterdam I think, again it's overnight but you travel on the same train. 'tis a lot more money though.

As for "why don't you just drive?". For me 1400 miles (there and back) is a significant chunk of any limited millage insurance policy spent on some very dull French motorways! I know which I'd prefer.

Futureclassic lives near me in NE Scotland so it'll be 1200 miles round trip just to get to Kris450's Surrey starting point, from which the south of France isn't that far.

Ah. Didn't think about limited mileage policies. Apologies.

I don't know if he's on such a policy or not to be honest, but it's still a lot of milage on exceptionally boring roads from Scotland to England and through France to get to the nice bit in the south, then all the way home again. His Tuscan is also particularly noisy biggrin

hi guys, yeah the reason i was thinking of transporting it was that i have limited time off, and as a few have said, i want to avoid the boring drive down in place of cruising the south coast, so was hoping to fly in and fly out. I essentially want to pay less than trying to rent a fast car, as that seems really expensive

cheers

Sorry - but the words 'boring drive' when you have such a great car should never be used. I am taking my Tamora to Northern Italy next year, and I intend to thoroughly enjoy every single mile getting there, and back.

Hi Chris, apologies, wrong way to put it. I drove down to a track day at Monza last year, and intend to do Spa, and possibly Imola later this year, but this holiday isn't really about cars, just trying to sneak a bit more euro driving in, but can't afford the time to drive down for this particular event

What sort of price would somebody like these charge?

http://www.carseurope.net/car-road-freight-uk-euro...

http://www.anchorvehiclelogistics.com/cartransport...

The other option is to break up the trip with the overnight ferry (Newcastle to Amsterdam) then the road-train from Rotterdam down to northern Italy. This is something that I've looked into but the cost was eye-watering....
