When I changed jobs recently and started walking to the train station (around 15 minutes each way) I started suffering with lower back pain combined with painful spasms.

I went to see a the chiropractor and had my gait analysed (£35) which revealed I was over-pronating when walking, which is exacerbated by carrying bags etc.

A pair of orthotic insoles to correct this, around £20 if I remember correctly completely fixed it, I now have a pair in all my shoes and I haven't had a problem since.

i thought it might have been that and got some over a year ago didnt seem to do much but there again i wasnt overly impressed with them or him one issue i found was they didnt fit all my shoes and in some they meant they didnt fit any more so at the moment they are in my work shoes.
might be worth me trying another specialist then. i do know i have overpronation and my heel/ankle isnt straight, slighly bow legged and have a slight curvature of the spine or so my mother told me smile

going by your username I thought you would know what would cause this wink

I don't know what sort of fitness level you are, but I got the same sort of symptoms, like lower back pain after walking for a bit, but now i have been going down the gym and exercising my lower back (and everything else) i can walk the same distance without the back pain, just other pains that are in other areas, just that now my back is stronger that one part of my does not hurt anymore, plus i am seeing a chiropractor aswell and that has help a lot, as after getting an x ray at the chiro's, it showed that the vertebrae at the v bottom of my back had a lot of subluxation and the back of the vertebrae (bits you can touch when pressing on the middle of your back) were actually being sort of crushed together where they were bending slightly the wrong way. but now the sessions with my chiro have sorted that nearly.

so its worth going to a chiro and getting an x ray and posture assessment if you can.
