I've got a bottom bracket that needs fresh grease, but wondering what the absolute best thing is to flush it of the existing, I'd like to have is sparkling clean first before I put new stuff in.

Normally I'd leave it in white spirit, but I cannot remove this BB due to an adapter that's in there which would mean its a huge ball ache, so I'm going to need to spray something in rather than take it out..

Any thoughts before I head down to Esso to get some diesel?

I would flush as much as possible with green gunk and then spray out using wurth brake cleaner.

Boiling water, washing up liquid and a brush is always a good cleaner, my lbs dumps all components it a bucket of it before washing, his theory is it's like soaking pans, the dirt just rinses away.

I blast the grease out with an air compressor. Gets rid of 95% of it ,any way and then use electrical cleaner, which evaporates out afterwards.

When you've finished use cheapo baby wipes for a final clean. Did my mechs with petrol the other day and the baby wipes really finished the job off a treat.

Thanks all. Electrical cleaner sounds possible.

Brake cleaner is also a good shout.
