Hi

I have a 2003 E320 Cdi Estate with the full airmatic. Tyre size is currently 225/55 r16 - standard alloys.

When I got the car, I am pretty sure it had some Khumo's on it, which seemed to last a fair while. Back in August, I had 4 new pirellis put on and I am thoroughly displeased with them. They are very twitchy in the wet, often lighting up the traction control. They have also poorly worn, lasting around. So, I aint having them again!

So, does anyone have any recommendations? - I'm currently thinking about going back to the Khumo's - the KU31's, or trying the nexens. Also, what manufacturer would mercedes have used originally? - I seem to think it was continental, but not too sure.

Thanks in advance!

Neil.

I had an 05 E220 estate from new, and that was on 16" Continental tyres. We now have an 09 E320 and that's also on Continentals since new, albeit 18" - now on SportContact 5s.

Very happy with the way they feel, and we get around 18,000 miles from them.

I had Continentals on my 07 E220 but they've gone for Pirelli Sottozeros now in the E250 (rears did 45k)

I've just put Good Year EfficiemtGrip's on the era after excellent reviews. They're quieter than Pirelli's.

Have used Conti Sport Contact 3's on my w211 eclass for many years now. Always go for the Y 99 rating with rim protectors (Camskill). They always lasted and very good in the wet.

Recently both my cars are on Conti Sport Contact 5's - totally different with very poor wear on the outside edge. Now looking at Goodyear instead.

Crikey!! I run them at the MB pressures, and I have knocked the middle out of the rears in as few as 16,000 miles. The fronts last better, but it is the inner shoulders that dictate renewal. Perhaps it's the way I drive!?

It's mainly motorway 85% and I drive very sedately!
The fronts are on 50k (Pirelli) with 4mm left.
I replaced the tyres with winters last year so they're in the shed.
