Try sticking to the speed limit instead. By the time you detect laser its too late. For fixed camera most GPS based detectors will do the job just fine if you keep the database up to date. LRC100 mounted in the nose of your car if you really fancy your chances against laser but its just not worth it especially if you get caught using it

For all in one probably the Pogo Alert 2 (great GPS data base - avg speed calc so you get a running readout in the HORRENDOUS avg speed zones and directional warnings etc) with laser detection built into the windscreen mounting.

However these have been out of stock for ages and the laser detector is only useful in specific circumstances as below:

1. detection of scattered laser light from other vehicle targeted ahead.
2. If the operator gets a slip error (very common when in hand held mode, and not uncommon when bolted to a bouncy van). The slip error means more than one attempt will be needed to get a lock and hence time to slow once forewarned by the detector that this is the situation.

I have experienced both scenarios and therefore MAY have saved 6 points smile This was over about 7 years of service.

I used a Bel550 until it expired recently and am now considering my options for new kit.

I think I will combine SATNAV with GPS via CYCLOPS database in a Garmin NUVI or if it proves better the Pocket GPS scammer database. I need all EU cover. For laser I am still debating the best route.

You do know the Froggies deem use of any detector a crime worthy of Madame la Guillotine, don't you?

Nothing better than Valentine One and an app called Waze in my opinion.

not really bothered as I totally minimise my time in France and the 'ban' on GPS satnav warnings is virtually un-enforceable.
