Central Locking Question

Cutting to the chase..

E39 central locking. I only use the car weekends.

Now I go out on the Saturday morning and the locking does not work at all. After driving around a bit the car will unlock on the key but not lock. At the end of a long journey it will lock and unlock.

So question is the battery in the key being recharged somehow and I should look to change the battery it must be doing its A levels by now. Or is the central locking gizmo going wrong.

Or is it both of the above. No error codes for central locking appearing.

Wondering what on earth is going on!!!

Could be the key battery, they do recharge when the ignition is on. I think I saw somewhere that they take about 36 hours to fully charge and should last about 4-5 years without recharging.
