I'm just in the process of looking to replace my 60 plate XF 3.0d S Portfolio as I have had it 3 years and am looking at getting an XK-R Convertible.

Undecided whether to go for a 2011/2012 at around £40- 50K or push the boat out and get a 2013/ex demo nearer the 60k mark.

Anyway, as always my budget keeps creeping up (with no good reason to) to the point where I am even considering a new XK Dynamic R as its loaded and there appears to be good deals / finance offers on it at the moment.

I haven't driven the Dynamic but have driven a 2012 XK-R Convertible with the speed pack (lower suspension) and found it more than comfortable for me.

However, I believe the Dynamic R is fitted as standard with the suspension from the XKR-S. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of how this affects (if at all) the cruising/ everyday ride quality of the car. I'm not in the market for a hard riding race car.

Thanks

Whilst it is slightly firmer than a "normal" XKR the R-S is no race car like say a 911 GT3. No complaints from any of my XKR-S customers about being too firm after upgrading from XKR.

The new Dynamic R is a great proposition for retail customers but has slightly bitten dealers in the a$$ as it came about so quickly. The value for money for a new car is far greater than an ex-demo pre Dynamic / Signature spec increase & price adjustment.

A new Dynamic R is a circa £22k better deal out of the box than an old R.

A decent PCP package is also quite recent on new XK's and not available on used / ex-demo's.....

Go for it, you wont regret it!

Is the Dynamic R basically the run out model of the current XK?

If so I see that as a good thing and an attractive buy.

Yes, they have simplified the range so no "basic" model, Portfolio becomes Signature with more kit as standard and price slash. XKR becomes Dynamic R with Speed / Black / Dynamic pack as standard, diamond stitch performance seats and performance exhaust plus other bits, also with price cut. XKR-S remains as was but with good deals available....

Do you expect a realignment of all approved stock pricing to take account of this?

The only disappointing thing I feel is the limited colour range. Satellite Grey is a fabulous colour on the XK, and it is not available. White is ok, as Black or very dark grey. Italian Racing Red is frankly, not as nice as Salsa and never was though I applaud the concept, Racing Green is, shall we say, chancy, and that's about your lot.

A run out model should be mouthwatering as well as attractively priced.
