For The Love of Cars
Discussion
Not bad, suffered from the current-day TV idiom of too much personality and not enough of the bloke who knows his onions. Would have like more explanation of the rebuild (without labouring it) and bit more why the Harris crew are so special. (Although this thread helps answer that second point )

Did I hear right when Philip Glenister said the green 'Harris special' Escort did a sub 12 second quarter mile? Shirley shum mishtake, that's 996t territory. What engine does it have in it if the figure was right?
I know of a standard looking but tuned "a little" MK3 that has gone under 10seconds,so 12 very do-able.Watch it lift that wheel
Good 7000th post spaceman....
Here's what i'm on about above, not really relevant but it's only 47seconds long.

Worth a look I guess, but does anyone make a show were you see the car being resorted ? This was more the back story to the Escort, and less than 5 mins of actual restoration. They did avoid at least the Discovery Channel usual thing of fake arguments, crisis and deadlines only just being met.

Also interesting how they called it the ultimate Escort, ignoring the Twin-Cam and RS models.
In many ways it was, as it was the ultimate affordable Fast Ford, and the ultimate clubmans motorsport car for the early 70's.The BDA and Twinks were tempermental as road cars back then, and a Mex with billies, an A2 cam, ported head and a pair of 40's had the joyful handling of the exotic engined homolgation specials without the hassle and costs.
A good Mex was (and still is) as joyous thing to drive.
Great show, I know one or two of the people on that show, the cafe clip was a mile from my house on the A23. Phil Glenister is my cousins best mate and is a really nice guy and likes his cars. 4 spoke revolutions were a bit of a let down, I'd have stuck steelies with hub caps on it myself. Apart from that it was a nice car.
