Has anyone changed the rear lights? if so what did you use to fix them in place? And what were the originals fixed in with?

I currently have some clear rear lights on my 94 Chim that one of the previous owners had fitted and they look like they are attached with silicone sealant, i'm thinking that the original units must have been attached some other way? I want to swap them for original lights but i'm not sure whether to just use silicone or something else. Any idea?

If like most things TVR, it'll be sikaflex.

Sikaflex is a polyurethane based sealant/adhesive.

They must have got through "buckets full of it" back at the factory, along with Velcro and tie wraps wink

Mine had 2 screws each through the fiberglass and into the lens, then half a bucket of sikaflex sealing them. Either way you've got to use a load of sealant or you'll end up with foggy insides.

Removed my fiesta lenses recently. 3 self tappers going from the aperture into holes drilled into the fiesta lens. Also sikaflex sealing around the lens to the car.

Where abouts were the holes for the screws on the lens? I bought some fiesta lights off ebay and they don't have any holes in the lenses so i assume this is a mod?

They are standard fiesta lights on a chim, but they have been hacked about a bit on the edges, you'll see when you take them out. There is a lot of the lens covered by the bodywork so lots of room for modification and fixings, mine were just screwed straight through the sides into the edge of the lens.

As spaceman says, someone has just drilled through the fibreglass flange and into the fiesta lens. There was also lots of unused holes drilled in the lens so clearly a bit of trial and error going on.

Strange on, someone has replaced one lens on the rear of my new purchase so I have one smoked lens and one clear..
Are replacemt lenses available, how are they smoked?
Was given a set of replacements with modern styling but not the standard later lights so I guess they are aftermarket fiesta (or is it Cavalier?).

You can buy the lenses online - here's one link I've found http://www.racetechdirect.co.uk/tvr-car-part-u0698...

The mk1 Chims have fiesta mk3 rear lights.
