Just wondering if anyone has been on a speed awareness course? (4 hours long, but better than 3pts)... if you have, can you give me a little info on what to expect! Cheers

It's a breeze mate nothing to worry about.. Could be done in 2 hours the first 30 mins of mine was the 2 instructors introducing themselves. A bit on threat awareness and the rest on how to know the limit on different roads. Some interesting bits too.

Damian S3 (36 / 30) allegedly

Thanks for the info Damian... Yes I know what you mean, I was supposedly doing 40 / 30 which - I do not believe in the slightest, but if you challenge you do not get the option of the course / & 3 points.

Go along with a positive attitude and an open mind and you will find it interesting, and might even learn something.

It's 4 hours in the classroom, about 20-25 similar sinners. I did mine between 5&9 one evening.

You might be shocked just how few know all or even most of the speed limits, and what speed you will still be doing when you hit a child. They measure the distance it takes to stop from 30, then check the impact speeds when stopping from the same braking point at various higher speeds.

There are various other useful pointers - I will never again sit waiting to turn right with my wheels turned ready to go, for example.

Yes, it could be done a bit quicker, but not everyone is as intelligent as you hehe

I rewarded myself with a second speed awareness the following day - at Cadwell Park!

Did one 3 weeks ago 5 to 9 is a long time straight after work, but some interesting points and like already said if you are involved in an accident they know how to work out your speed. The speed at which you can damage pedestrians is an eye opener. No test so you can relax and take it in. Better than the points and the insurance companies don't ask if you have been on one, well one does but that will be made clear to you.

Did one in north Wales as I sinned doing 33 in a 30.
When your shown the video and have to identify all of the hazards, write down a total that is at least 2 x what you spotted wink
Open mind and it can be interesting.
