Taimar upright - trunion thread
Discussion
It looks like both trunnions on my Taimar were lubricated with grease rather than gear oil and sadly they were both dry on disassembly.
The RHS trunion had a tiny amount of sideways movement but clean square topped threads, no pitting and the inside of the trunion had faint grooves visible. After cleaning, filling with clean gear oil and a new seal there is no perceptible slack or sideways movement.
The LHS trunion had more than 1mm of sideways movement, and the trunion to wishbone bolt is seized in the trunion. The lock stop bolt sheared when I tried to undo it. Given the condition of the thread on the upright I guess this has been run dry for a while.
I think I know the answer but I might as well ask... is this RHS upright junk? The photo isn't great but the threads do not have a flat surface, the top being more like an M in shape, and there is significant pitting in the flat part at the top above the thread. Also the trunion had no visible grooves inside.
Thoughts appreciated

Bent or not, looks like scrap to me
Replaced one of mine couple of years ago, Adrian must have been out of stock or whatever, he put me onto Graham Walker
I just stuck a ruler against it and it doesn't seem bent that I can see, so it might be my mobile's wide angle lens. I did dig out a measuring caliper and set it to be have a 5thou gap at just below the thread. If I move it half way down the 'flat' part, away from the thread, the gap increases to 15thou and goes back to 5 thou at the bottom, but the gap is only in the left to right plane ie in the middle it has worn slightly oval.
