Ilkely Moor, Yorkshire Dales
Discussion
Just booked a bit of a long weekend away for me and the other half for in a few weeks time, naturally I want to make the most of being in the Yorkshire Dales and get out there on some nice little roads to have some fun, whether I get to take the 205 or have to make do in the Fabia vRS is all down to if I can get the little Pug sorted in time.
So with that in mind, I'm looking for any nice twisties, with good views to be able to venture out onto if any of you local Yorkshire guys can help me out.
Also what way would you recommend I travel, coming from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, I don't want to be travelling on a boring motorway for ages.

Depends on where you're going but the roads in and around Ilkley moor are packed with traffic and speed humps plus most have been restricted these days, they are great when no one is around but that doesn't happen often.
Through Ilkley and on to Bolton abbey towards Burnsall (lovely spot by the river) the road is very scenic but again lots of walkers cyclists and plodding traffic.
Beyond Burnsall and head to Grassington/Thresfield the road opens (for a bit) out past there on to Conistone as you head to Kettlewell and Kilnsey crag.
Beyond there as has been said you get on to Hawes and Buttertubs pass is worth a drive just for the great views.
If the weather is good there is no finer place than the dales to waft along and drink in the view.
Ah OK you're staying just the other side of Baildon, so you'll need to head over the moor to Ilkley nice town lots of bars shops restaurants and even a lido! (Betty's is a must and a local institution on the Grove)
The dales open up from there.
