Stupid dangerous overtake attempt, then the driver gets out of the vehicle and shoves the cyclist. All the usual idiocy "Pay road tax? Got insurance?"

Driver was sacked from his job and got a criminal record. At least he apologised at court.

Jaw literally on the floor after watching that.

The van's movement toward the cyclist is blatantly obvious, both from the side whilst still moving, and also evidenced by the angle of the van in the road when it stops.

Watching the cyclists behaviour in these 'helmet cam' videos can sometimes show up a little carelessness or even arrogance that might in some small way contribute to the situation, but in this case, as far as I can see, the cyclist behaves really well, and rides with skill and consideration. Take, for example, the look right, look left, check right again before emerging past the give way line, and his immediate move across to the left hand side of the road.

The twunt in the van has no defence at all. From the sounding of the horn (incorrect use of an audible warning device) which proved that he had seen the cyclist, to the deliberate steering toward the bike, through to the assault (minor, but still an assault) and the behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace. No matter how bad a day he was having, nor what another cyclist might have done to him, there's no need for this kind of behaviour. EVER!

Sacked from his job, and a criminal record? The very least he deserved. I would have liked to have seen a custodial sentence for that. Not for the "shove" but for the "driving deliberately at" element of the incident.

What a complete and utter

I suspect we're going to end up with the majority of cyclists using cameras as the size and cost come down- it's been proved over and over again to be the only way to get the Police to do anything about the sadly all to common situation in the video.

Great result getting the guy to court and convicted- that's the 0.01% that goes the right way.

The cyclist played a blinder. The reason the guy's face and company name is obscured is cos the cyclist researched the company and discovered the owner's a keen cyclist. He sent him the footage and asked how best to proceed. The boss called the driver in and asked for an explanation (the driver didn't know it was caught on film). The driver made up a load of old bks, the boss sacked him on the spot and the footage went to Johnny Law.

I have no idea what the name of the company is even! And given they acted properly I'm surprised the rider hasn't unblurred it all now to say "Well done"
