Well if he was the No 1 choice all along it explains the KP issue........

Just read Aggers piece on the BBC website....he reckons Giles would have got the job if it wasn't for that T20 result against The Netherlands. If so the fking cretins at the ECB are flakey enough in their decision making to appoint a coach for hopefully the next five years or more based on one game of pyjama cricket. If that's the case every single one of the people responsible for the decision should be fired as that is no fking way to run an elite sport. Imagine Dave Brailsford making a decision on a coach in the GB cycling team based on one result.

That said I am delighted Moores got the job over Giles.

I rather suspect that Giles would have got the job if he'd have shown some potential during the tour down under where he was assistant and followed that through with further improvements during the T20 world cup.

I've never been a Giles fan, far too negative and don't want that philosophy being carried onto the team.

Hopefully Mooro (as I'm sure he's called by the players) will have learned from last time round and will be able to deal with the egos, some of which need deflating a little. The good news is that KP is definitely done!

+1

At times, as a player, he didn't even look to take wickets - just bowled that negative leg side line over after over. Hardly the most aggressive or positive cricketing mind in the world.

I think the ecb were struggling to attract candidates given the lucrative contracts and relatively less demand of the ipl. Listening to moores being interviewed andto the press conference at the weekend I see nothing inspirational whatsoever. I fear for the next 5 years.
