Hi guys

So im looking at getting a Ford Mondeo 2.2 (172bhp) 2009 Titanium X Sport as in the next year or two it will be the 'family car' but I still want to enjoy driving it so have been looking into getting a few bits done when I get one (hopefully in a couple of months time).

So a mate recommended HERTSAUTOTEK www.hertsautotek.co.uk to me, he wanted an exhaust system, performance filter, Dual Remap (he has an Astra van with sport button so needs dual map) inc EGR delete and DPF removed, they quoted £1200 and he got them down to £800 (think he may know one of the guys there). Does that sound reasonable?
They are based in Stevenage so just down the road for me (St Albans) I have spoken with them and they seemed very friendly and helpful over the phone (could be argued that any business that wants to make money will be but im being open minded).

So they said that they can do as many others can, exhaust system (to what extent is pretty much my choice), performance filter (despite me not being able to find one for the 2.2 2009 mk4 model?) but maybe they use a universal one who knows?, remap with EGR delete and possible DPF removal.

So they didn't give me a price as they said there are to many variables (I presume with exhaust etc) which I wasn't that bothered about tbh as im more trying to source a location to get the work done before I worry to much about the price (it still needs to be competitive though) but they did say when I get the car take it too them and then I can decide exactly what I want done and then get a price.

So firstly has anyone had any first hand experience with this company?
Has anyone had any of this done on their cars that are similar?
Has anyone had a quantum remap done before?
Is getting this work done for say under 1k reasonable if its a good company?
With getting the DPF removed and the new MOT Req am I likely to exceed the emissions when it comes to my MOT? Or will a tank of Shell V power with some Forte get me round it?

Any advice and feedback is greatly appreciated.

Regards
Jase

Never heard of them and never heard of a quantum remap either

If it has a Ford badge attached to it then I personally wouldn't take it to anywhere other than SCC Performance in St Albans, they've done all the work to my Focus ST.

Their website is mainly aimed at the Focus ST/RS market but if you speak to them you'll find they can work on pretty much any Ford/VAG car

Its now an automatic MOT failure if you do a DPF removal or the emissions light shows on the dash.

You have been warned!

Thanks for your replies guys, I've spoken with SCC performance and they can do a remap for me but say a panel filter and exhaust is spending quite a bit of money for not a lot of gains, what's your opinions on that?
Do you think its worth say 1k to have exhaust, panel filter and remap done? Or just get a remap with EGR delete?

Yea I know they do a visual check of the DPF and obviously through exhaust gases too but didn't know if doing a tank of shell Vpower with some Forte would get my round the 'high' emissions?

Cheers guys

I used Herts AutoTek a few months ago for a new exhaust and remap on my Navara. Impressed with the service they provided (dealt with Lee). Took the time to explain the options and I'm impressed with the results. Total cost was £700 for the lot.

I have dealt with them but not for an exhaust, they certified my LPG system for me. Helpful guys though and I would definitely go back for more LPG related stuff.

I have had an exhaust made for the girlfriends Suzuki Cappuccino from STS in Bedford though and can thoroughly recommend them, great value for money. Totally different types of garages though, Herts Autotek is very clean and modern where as STS is more your standard looking greasy industrial estate garage smile

Haha thanks for the info, I prefer the more clean approach to business lol.

Thanks for your opinion though greatly appreciated, I like how they can offer to do a 'package' so I can get everything I want done under one roof. If there is something to go wrong they are only down the road for me and they'd be the only people responsible for any problems smile
