Well I am guessing most people know what happens in those films...

The Greatest Story Ever Told.

(Very topical at the moment, so I'm told).

We expect so! So why do people watch it when they know how it ends? These films are by definition pointless.

Have you never watched a film more than once? You could say its pointless to watch a film more than once as you know what happens. But if you like the story its worth it.

Knowing the eventual outcome doesn't mean that a film cannot be gripping. Apollo 13 is suspenseful through decent film-making, despite knowing exactly how it'll pan out. Superhero films? James Bond? You know that he/they'll live and triumph over the bad guys. Still watch them, though.

Actually, what do you watch? wink
