Anybody have a tablet with a 4G data plan?
Discussion
I currently have an iPhone 4 as my only handy device and with increasing work loads and less office time I'm thinking about getting an iPad Mini Retina and having a data plan for ease of use on the go. Plus I just really want one.
£15 a month rolling contract for 10GB data with 3 seems a good deal. I tend to use up to 2GB per month on my phone, but could easily use more if I wasn't keeping my eye on the usage because of the 'Fair Usage' policy and extra charges.
Anybody else do this or thought about it?

A friend uses a 4G iPad Mini with an unlimited data plan and uses it tethered to his laptop in place of a broadband line. I have no idea who the provider is or the cost, but I can give him a ring and ask if you'd like.
He has no problems. The iPad is his internet line and wireless router.

With previous iPads I used to tether from my iphone but found it a bit of hassle in meetings when all I wanted to do was quickly check email etc, plus it hammers your battery so decided to go for a cellular iPad mini retina last year. It is by far and away the best bit of tech kit I have every owned. I started with PAYG Three sim for £20 every 3 months but have switched to EE as at the time you could pick up a sim with 6gb loaded/3 months for £16.50 plus it is 4g (although Three are starting to roll out 4g in Edinburgh now).
I had a good look at one yesterday in the Apple Shop, Bullring. Though it was absolutely rammed. £419 for the 16GB Cellular Retina, which is enough storage for me.
I can't see any unlimited data deals for tablets and I'm not sure what they'd do if I used a phone sim in one. Tethering will be very handy. EE has 4G in my area and 3 has 'Advanced' 3G with a 4G rollout due this year. My 3G speeds have been great with EE, contract now ended. I'll pop into the shops and see what sort of deals I can get.
Thanks for the replies.

The best deals I have found for loaded sims have either been on Amazon or eBay - worth a check.I can't see any unlimited data deals for tablets and I'm not sure what they'd do if I used a phone sim in one. Thought I would pop back to this thread and mention that I bought the iPad. Real nice gadget, does everything I need and some cool extras and apps I didn't know about which have been useful.
I also bought a 4G 10GB pre-loaded EE sim for £15 and it lasts 90 days. Speeds are around 16MB download on this with around 10MB upload wherever I get signal and coverage is very good. In Birmingham City Centre it's even faster.

I also use the EE 4G SIM - had no issues, not sure why you'd bother with a contract.
Do you get these from Amazon or from EE direct?Prices fluctuate, so if they're cheap we often buy several to have in stock.

For me EE was dreadful, have switched to 3 and had no issues, on 3G it's routinely faster than I got out of EE 4G. But it depends so much on where you are.
Agree on the location thing. We (missus P and I) both used 3 for a couple of years and then tried EE when 4G came out. Worked for us, and the speeds we get are good. General coverage is certainy improved over 3's on my train commute.
