Wow, I really can't see that going into production................could it??
If an R is 40k with some spec, what would this cost??
Eh? A Golf R is £40k if you spec £8k - £10k of options, which isn't that easy. In fact I'm not sure £10k of options is even possible. If an R is 40k with some spec, what would this cost??
This will be expensive, but the performance looks monumental, and with any hope it will be a rare, limited run car.

If you start with a 5dr dsg and tick every option in the book excluding paint the price would be £40,990 so £9,020. White paint adds 255, Metallic paint 535 or Oryx White 950. So not 10k of option's isn't possible only 9,970 currently, obviously dyn-audio is not currently available so it may be possible to exceed 10k later this year. Personally I'd expect the price to start with a 4 if only because a R 5dr DSG with DCC and carbon leather is £36,540. Love the styling and if this makes production then the lack of centre exhaust and recaro option on normal R suddenly makes sense. A high price would surely make the car quite rare without VW needing to officially limit numbers.

Total: £42,713 including £10,743 of your options
I'd expect it to start with a 4 and have leather, DCC and 19s as Standard
I reckon it'll be priced to compete with the as-yet non-existant BMW M2 and perhaps the AMG A45 Black Series. IMO base price will be floating around £45k but will come with more kit as standard.
Even if it's touching £50k this is a really special package. Sod people who say it's just a Golf.

Presumably not that is has been used successfully in recent Lamborghinis.
Just to point-out that Haldex is a manufacturer, not a single product. There is quite a difference between the system in a Lamborghini or Veyron to what you'll find in something that was originally based on a transverse FWD car.adaptive said:

Interesting which options did you tick to get there? I'm guessing Oryx paint? extended warranty? I'd expect it to start with a 4 and have leather, DCC and 19s as Standard
I'd expect the price to start with a 4 too but have recaro's, DCC and 19s as standard, so somewhere around 45k base sounds about right. I do however expect that the RS3, 1M/2M, A45 black will be around 50k base.
