Picked up a MK3
Discussion
Hello from Chicago!
I've just picked up a new toy and am looking for some guidance. I think I have a late MK3 with some custom modifications. Does anyone recognize this chassis? It looks like I have a fuel leak in the passenger side tank. I have fuel bladders and am looking for some replacements, what do you guys replace them with? I should say that this is a track only car and am looking to get it back on the track asap. Next winter, I'll look to do some other big mods, but right now want to get it out and enjoy it.
I've been researching the car for a few weeks and it looks like it has the following:
1990 Ford SHO Motor (3.2l Yamaha)
915 Transaxle (915.301.301 6R)
1984 Vette suspension w/ ZRF Brakes
Here are a few links to pics. If anyone has any info on this chassis or advice on modernization, please chime in!!

Barry: nice catch, one of the guys that comes to supercar sunday here in L.A. was looking at the same car and you evidently beat him to it. I bet that SHO motor sounds sweet in that application. My input would be change the fluids due a safety check on all the fastners, belts, fire extinguishers and get it to a race track. I bet a couple of 20 minute sessions will show you where you need changes if any. Have fun Lee
Lots of good info, thanks! I don't have any idea on the builder, history, etc. This one is a mystery and was sold to me by a speciality dealer in NY. They either had no information or didn't want to share...
I'm going to try and pull out the bladder and check for manu. I'll post a pic if I can get it out. It looks like the bladder was set inside the aluminum tub and the body was bonded around the whole thing. I might be able to disconnect the entire thing and pull it through the top opening, but don't see an easy way to do it.

They normally have a large round or oval flange and are designed such that they can be removed through that size of hole. The only caveat to that is that your bladder is now old and may not be as flexible making it seem like it won't come out. You may just have to get aggressive.
