Under carpet sound deadening / proofing suggestions
Discussion
I pulled the sound deadening material out from under the carpets in the old Mercedes as it had absorbed a surprising amount of rain water. I clearly have a leak to address. Can anyone recommend a source for a replacement? I'm looking for something that won't soak up moisture like a sponge. The 'closed cell' products advertised on Ebay tend to be only sold in small sheets. Kind of needs to be available in a large sheet/mat. Any pointers very much appreciated.
I've used closed cell foam under the carpets in some parts on the Firenza for much the same reason - doesn't take on water. There's a supplier local to me who does a lot of shows in the north west, sells quite big sheets (I think around 6' x 4') or smaller offcuts, various thicknesses, self-adhesive or not. Seller name on eBay is "dobble0_0", shop is "Haymoor products".

Decampos, Dynamat is the way to go. Some think it's expensive but it's VERY good. I have a brand new/unused pack of Dynamat Xtreme which covers 36sq.ft. I do not need this anymore and will sell at a reduced price; PM me if interested.I saw Dynamat (I think) when I used to watch 'American Hot Rod', they seemed to use it a lot. I think it was price that put me off, also I'm a little nervous at sticking stuff down to the floorpan when I might get a water leak and have to rip it all up to dry everything out. That said, v8250, if Decampos doesn't want it, let me know and I might have a dabble for the next project.

Thanks for the reply guys. droopsnoot, yes, the water absorbency is my concern also. I just had a look at the seller 'dobble0_0' on ebay. His products look very suitable for what I'm after. Are you happy with what you bought?
v8250, I am interested in Dynamat, but after doing a bit of research, maybe not for this application. Thanks anyway though.
