Can't seem to find any evo threads around here so thought i'd start one. This is the second Evo 6 i've had. Here's a couple of pictures of my old Reims blue one:

Before the evo's my first car was a Toyota Celica GT4 ST205. Was a good little car.

Anyway, i bought this one about 11 months ago. Think i got an absolute bargain at £7995 too. The owner was one of the nicest blokes i've ever met and gave me a mint set of team dynamics pro race 1.2 wheels with 4 nitrogen filled ao48s which have covered just 600 miles for free. As well as 4 evo 9 speedlines with 2 good condition eagle f1 tyres, some evo 9 shocks and some ebc redstuff pads.

The only mechanical failure i've had in 1 year of ownership so far was rear diff failure. It exploded whilst on a spirited drive last summer on one of the pistonheads dream drive roads. I replaced it in under a week with an uprated AYC diff from a low mileage evo 9. I was expecting horrific bills but the whole ordeal cost me under £500 which i didn't think was too bad.

I drove the car all the way to my grandparents house in Dumfries in Scotland and it didn't miss a beat. Fantastic roads up there, a welcome break from central London. Great to stretch the cars legs. Pricy in terms of fuel though biggrin

I've carried out a few aesthetic mods too.

I'm essentially going for a silver and black carbon fibre look. I think tinting the rear windows makes the car look slightly more menacing somehow, although rear visibility at night is slightly poor now. An oversight on my behalf. I also added a carbon fibre spoiler blade, carbon fibre vortex generators and a carbon fibre NACA duct (small vent on bonnet). In the next few weeks i've got some darker more modern (not chav) headlights to go on, as well as updated rear lights and a carbon fibre diffuser. The rear of the car really lets it down at the moment.

I attended a trackday at Silverstone in November and the car didn't miss a beat all day. A couple of weeks prior to this, the car was rolling roaded and produced some very solid numbers. Decent amounts of torque. It was fun keeping up with and even passing one 997 gt3 in my crusty £8k jap saloon :P

This year i'll be attending Le Mans, Silverstone and Spa f1 races in the car. I plan on doing a fair few trackdays too.

I'll post an update in a week or two hopefully with the new parts fitted to the car.

In the meantime, feel free to ask any questions :]

Hello RKI, well it's a small world, my wife and I used to own T118 TVM. When did you have it? We had it around 8 years ago, totally standard and I even used it as my daily driver to commute it!

How do these fair as daily drivers? Presume parts like pads/discs are fairly pricey?
Really is amazing what you can get for the money now. I'm considering an Evo/Impreza but favouring the Evo as the Subaru parts are expensive and they're damn thirsty.

That is a very tasty angle. Vortex gens look so cool, did you take them off a later model ?

Also, props for the NACA duct, they are pure unadulterated megasex!

Ah interesting, i remember seeing pictures of the car in the history folder looking pretty stock. I had it from Jan 2010 to May 2011. It's for sale again now i think. Far from stock with a big GT35 turbo. http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=469...

I work from home so luckily don't have to commute. Fuel economy whilst pootling around London is pretty appalling tbh. I once managed 113 miles from 50 litres of V power, which i believe is sub 13 mpg. At Silverstone i managed 10 mpg somehow though. On the motorway i reckon i get about 20-25 mpg. 225 miles to a tank at a push.

I don't think that the stock brembo pads and discs are too expensive, although my KSport 332mm discs are going to cost me £375 to replace. Decent carbotech pads are around £200 as well i think.

Tbh i don't think theres much in it between Evo's and Imprezas in terms of running costs. I think Evo's need more frequent servicing though.

I think the vortex generators first started to appear on the evo8 MR and FQ models. A few companies make them for the 6 now too. The rear diffuser i've ordered is basically a rip off of the evo 9 type.

Blimey! I took those two photos just after I'd washed it one weekend, they're outside me and my wife's first house! I never published them so I've no idea where they got them from!! But yes you're quite correct, the car wanted for nothing in the time we had it and the chap who we sold it to seemed very knowledgeable and enthusiastic too so I've no reason to believe he didn't do the same.

BTW, I like your silver one, looks lovely in that colour and they're getting rare now too.

Quick update : Completely revamped the rear end of my car this week (Well Bob at Dynotech in Kent did :] )

Think it looks SO much better personally. I reckon its shaved about 10 years off the car lookswise.

This is what a stock evo 6 looks like from the rear:

How mine looks now.

Delighted with it tbh. Trackday at Bedford next week too, so more updates will be coming.

Whilst the car was in a harness bar was also fitted as well nice new front discs.

Unfortunately i'm still losing a year long battle against AYC and ABS lights though, even after replacing 3 abs sensors (£110 a pop :@).
