I`m wondering if buying a new one would be better value ,after having mine reconditioned with second hand parts there is not going to be a big difference in the price

LSD shot and maybe the crown and pinion and number of other tired parts .

Why do you have a good GKN in your garage ?

What year is your car ? I`m not sure if mine is 3.77:1 or 3.31:1.

What`s the easiest way to find out .

Easiest way is to look at the tag that might still be attached and legible on the case that states what ratio it is. If not there then count the pinion and crownwheel teeth.

Unless the ebay add posted by Daz is the Central TVR ebay shop I'd give Adrian a call as he has recently taken delivery of a load of the original BTR 3.45:1 diffs.

The Ebay seller is Central , £750 is a bit on the heavy side , i wonder what the condition of the internals are like sitting in a hot humid country for years .

Good question to be fair Daz.

Have a drive over to see Adrian and his team, very approachable and will probably show you one up close if you ask thumbup

judging by the condition of all the other stuff they got ( adrian showed me around the hord when i picked up the old chaps M), and the outside of the diffs, id say the condition of the insides is probably spot on. the stuff looks to have been stored carefully

Folks already mentioned Central stock & yes superficially it looks good condition when i viewed recently

Andy (their technician) was telling me it would be possible to retro fit later BTR diffs esp as orig GKN no longer made/stocked - change to mounting brackets
