I'm thinking of a Ferrari factory tour for my birthday in September. Are there any companies that do a package from the UK - flights, transfers, hotel, transport to/from the factory, etc., or do I need to 'build' the trip myself?

The Ferrari club organises trips (flights, etc) in October, but you have to be a member. AFAIK the tour companies have visits to the museum but not the factory as I believe you have to be an owner to visit the factory.

A company called Classic Grand Touring may be able to help. I have no connection with them and have not used them.

Main routes to this I know of are as said ferrari owners club. The other
is through the main dealerships as an owner. They arrange directly with Ferrari. AFAIK its about £100 per person. Obviously you would sort your own travel.Quite a few owners opt for this as a trip in their cars down to italy and back...along with the odd tunnel and mountain pass. Mines planned for Sept 2015..trip of a lifetime.

Thanks. No real change on many years ago then. I knew you could do the FOC/PHR tours and also arrange them via dealerships, as an owner, but I figured with Ferrari being so 'commercial' these days that they might have launched a more 'accessible' factory tour experience for non-owners.

See my comments on my recent trip on the second page of this forum entitled "are the ferrari/Lamborghini museums any good".

Since I'm not a ferrari owner (yet!) I didn't do a tour of the factory .

I did a Ferrari factory tour with my wife two years ago. Couple of tips, firstly it's cheaper to go in a group, don't do that! Pay a little extra and it's just you and the guide. This way you get to spend more time in the areas which interest you most but also be a bit "cheeky" and you get into the areas others don't get to see on the standard group tour wink
Next up, you cannot take any photos, only at the gate and that's it, bit like the Chocolate factory, it's all hush hush.
You will get a Ferrari set of earphones for the intercom/expo system and a Ferrari passport for future visits and then a CD rom of the current models. The tour last 2-2.5 hours from memory and its Epic.
I am lucky enough to own a Ferrari and so booked direct from Maranello concessionaires egham in Surrey. From memory about £250-300 for the pair of us. If you don't have a Ferrari but know someone who has then quite simply they can book for you with their chassis number and registration number.
We flew to Bologna, really liked it there, the food was superb as was the wine, good for 2-3 days infact. Did Modena for a day....hmmmm? But boring actually unless you want to buy some vinegar. Then on the day of the trip got a train from bologna to Modena and then bus to Maranello, quick and easy and you get to see the sights. Loved it, would go back in a heartbeat!

Did MC charge you for a factory visit even though you own a Ferrari?

Yep, that was the £240 ish. I don't think it matters which model either, new or old, they take the reg and chassis number and then ask you when you'd like to go. Fantastic experience all round.
