Bentleys in California - Route 1?

I don't normally venture into the Bentley area but hoping one of you guys may be able to help.

A few weeks back I was driving down Route 1 in California and had about 20+ uk registered bentleys fly past in the other direction. I was in a hire car but would love to one day do the drive in my own car, does anyone have any info on who organised this run? Would be really good to have a chat with them about logistics etc.

There are a number of Runs and Tours arranged for members of the BDC ( Bentley drivers club ) the next main ones are

Europe By Bentley 3 - 30th May which include the Monaco Grand Prix and Mille Miglia

Welsh Weekend 2- 5th May

Spring Tour 21st May - 4th June in France

Bentley International 26 - 29th September North West England and North Wales

There are various other events including Donington Historic Le Mans Classic Silverstone Classic and the Silverstone Race day.

Summer Rally and Concours 28th June

I often wondered about this - I wasn't sure if you would be allowed to take a UK spec car into the USA these days - My grandfather took a Silver Cloud III to the USA in 1965, but I was guessing things were a bit more relaxed then.

Maybe the UK plates were put on as replicas, but the cars were US spec and owned?

But I could be completely wrong - I have no idea what the rules are, but would be interesting to know.
